Re: Pipe refinishing
@RockyMountainBriar
Mounts in your chuck. Then the stem slides into the 2 slots to hold that end in place as it turns.
Lousy pics (sorry), and I used my bent stem to give you the idea. Naturally the stem should be straight, but again, I just used the one I was smoking to give you the idea...
The opening gradually becomes smaller to allow for various sizes of stems...

Re: What are you guys smoking right Now?
Happy Thanksgiving!
The turkeys, chickens, rabbits, cats, dog and me have all had breakfast. I'm relaxing with an MM Bent Apple Diplomat filled with GLP Abingdon and a cup of coffee.

After dinner smoke is GLP Abingdon in an MM Boone with spiced rum and apple cider.
I was in charge of the dump run and got the job of taste and smell testing tomorrow's feast. Just got a taste of the cornbread being used in the dressing.

Re: What's for Dinner? (Pairing pipe, drinks & dinner)
Second pipe is GLP Kensington in a Rob Roy with freshly made Columbian coffee. This is my wife's holiday to work so I'm starting the cooking,

Into the oven at 300° for 4 1/2 hours!

Re: Christmas Blends
Wow that sounds great. They all feel gimmicky to me. But alas i couldn’t resist all temptation and went with a couple of ounces of figgy pudding by country squire. Still haven’t tried it yet though. I think I’ll wait until after thanksgiving. Happy piping

@RockyMountainBriar I’m not saying it isn’t worth it but that’s too rich for me. Also smoking one for you tonight. A little bowsers castle in the refinished Dr. Grabow bent bulldog. So much Latakia.
Last night on the other hand was parsons blend which is an aromatic like I’ve been looking for. Reviews to come eventually.

Only a few friends (3), one is 30 miles away, another about 400, and another 1500. By those numbers, you would think I am a hated individual🤔. I definitely choose my friends wisely and carefully.

@Whoispra
Be advised, you will want a four jaw chuck, most wood lathes do not come with them. I have a Teknatool Nova G3, and @KA9FFJ’s looks to be a Nova G3 as well? I run mine on a Craftsman 101.21200/Atlas Mark II 6”x18” metal lathe. Vermont freehand has aluminum (tobacco pipe making) chuck jaws for the Nova G3, and Teknatool has several different types of woodworking jaws available.
P.S. Lathes and lathe tooling are a money pit, but they are awesome.
