Re: CHRISTMAS.........
I don't know where to start.
While Christmas is not a major holiday in Israel, around 3 percent of the Israeli population is christian. Would you deny them the celebration?
Some of the holiest sites for Christianity are in Israel and special Christmas ceremonies are held throughout the country in Christian churches. Not to mention that some communities of Jewish people like the Aliyah from Russia and the members of the Coptic Orthodox Church celebrate Christmas.
This is especially true of areas like Jaffa, Haifa, Nazareth and the old city part of Jerusalem.
Among the places associated with Christmas are some of the holiest sites for Christianity, such as the city of Nazareth. These sites are also an attraction for pilgrimage to Holy Land. Special Christmas ceremonies are held throughout Israel in Christian churches alongside Christmas concerts, markets, bazaars, processions, sermons and events.
There are many other countries that have smaller Christmas celebrations than in the "Christian" world. China and Russia for example.
Would you deny those living in those countries the right to celebrate Christmas?
When I am asked, and I am every year, "Does Santa deliver presents to every country?" I always answer that Santa delivers presents to every human who believes, it doesn't matter what their government tells them is allowed or not. Of course, it should also be noted that many people in other countries separate the Christian religious meaning of Christmas from the tradition of their countries.
