Re: What are you guys smoking right Now?
Finishing off the last of my Lane’s Crown Achievement in my Ascorti. Paired it with a Colombian distilled spirit a “friend” recommended I try. Cumbe is like a lighter body Ouzo.

@vtgrad2003 I would have thought this was hilarious if the embassador was just trying to piss off the French. This is just our embassador being an idiot

Re: Other Hobbies
Good art is timeless, no matter what the medium, subject or style/genre...
It has been said that "good" art is in the eye of the beholder, but we both know that there are other "rules" that come into play. Balance, composition, color schemes, perspective, focal point(s), and on and on that come into play to satisfy the art critics criteria for "good" art.
But when it's all said and done, do you gain satisfaction, relaxation, a feeling of accomplishment, a happiness and joy that you're hard-pressed to find anywhere else (except pipe smoking of course 😏)? If so, don't bother over thinking a hobby that gives you so much enjoyment.
Your good, and we appreciate you sharing your hobby. Please continue to share. I'm sure I speak for most, if not all, when I say we enjoy seeing your work.
And I said all that to say this:
Yes, there will ALWAYS be a place for old school art... ALWAYS. If not, a lot of museums would already be shut down...🙂

@Zouave
Thanks for the reply. This is all very interesting. I am making changes and caring less about perfection and what people think or like. I want to do something I like. If you like it too that's a bonus. I just see the real craft, skill and talent getting dumber and dumber just like society. Seems less and less people have interest of these ways. Who knows.
I hope maybe someday I would have stuff to show and sell 😂
Maybe.

It's interesting that no one is lining up to toss tomato soup onto a banana taped to a wall, but they have to put renascence work under bullet proof glass. That should tell you something about art.

Re: What are you Drinking while smoking your pipe today?
Since it’s Valentines Day, my wife said I should go buy me a bottle of something special. Boy, was she right. I picked up a bottle of J. T. Meleck Louisiana whiskey. It’s a farm to bottle whiskey with a mash bill of 100% Providence rice grown on a family farm established in the 1890s. It’s aged between 4 and 5 years and bottled at 96 proof. Smooth.

I decided on a Brandy Milk Punch made with Chilean Pisco liquor to pair with some C&D “White Lightning”.

I’m such a sucker for unique whiskey bottles. The Easter Island Moai intrigue me, hey, it’s history!
