February 20th is International Pipe Smoking Day, launched in 2008 by Smokers Forums, one of the UK's most popular online forums for pipe smokers. The date was chosen because it corresponds to its creation.
On the special International Pipe Smoking Day (IPSD) – once a year on February 20th - pipe smokers around the world will celebrate the noble art of pipe smoking. Everyone will put into practice old traditions of raising our pipes in toast to each other in unison and share a bowl together. The IPSD will allow everyone to step back and appreciate the rich historical value. For pipe-smokers and pipe-smoking everywhere the day will be emblematic of our shared values, history, traditions and aspirations. The first IPSD was held in 2008 and is now celebrated in over 30 countries.
I’ve got a new pipe on the way (I can’t pass up a sale…well….I could, but I have no willpower). I have some tobacco’s I have been searching for, for quite awhile, on the way as well. The tobacco’s are not in stock often, and when they are, I do not have the T.A.D. funds at the right time. They are not supposed to get here until Wednesday though, so I guess I’ll miss IPSD
@Londy3 When I get into a pipe smoking funk, it's usually one of these reasons: 1. Sick 2. Family member sick 3. Log periods of bad weather 4. Too busy We all get it now and then, but the funk eventually leaves with the disappearing of the above reasons. We are then left with some beautiful pipes and great blends calling to us once more. So don't despair brother. We'll see a pic of you soon here at TPL enjoying a pipe and libation in no time...👍🏻
I celebrated IPSD with one of my favorite all time Tobacs in one of me all time favorite pipes. It's a Savinelli "Cricket". Leather covered and a grand smoker. Well before I retired, I bought two of theses and still have one in the box. Never smoked it and I doubt I ever will.. Savinelli no longer makes the "Cricket". My tobac of choice was me first go to Captain Black. Good 30 years ago and still good today. For me, IPSD this years was a trip down memory lane.
