I got up today and it was 1 degree @ 8:00 am. An hour later with the sun up it was 0 degrees. Wind chill -19 degrees. It is too cold to go to my shed and wait for the wood stove to heat things up. I'm really getting soft in my old age. I need to take some bottles and cans and cash them in later. I may sneak a bowl in my wife's car. Please don't rat me out.
@opipeman You already ratted yourself out, @RockyMountainBriar is actually your wife pretending to be some guy in Montana who smokes pipes...she's been keeping tabs on you this entire time! 🤣
@vtgrad2003; I should have known. Counting the years we dated before marriage, we have been together 63 years. In all that time I've never been able to pull anything over on her. I only hope two things; first that I have always spoke of her with love and respect on TPL and second hell I forgot what I was going to say.
Under the tree in the front yard, the very small front porch area or at the patio table in the back yard. I hope to have reclaimed space in my garage in the next couple of weeks so I can smoke in there if I want to. (Our two daughters managed to turn the garage into a storage unit a couple of years ago.)
Starting a pipe club takes time and effort... and pipe smokers who going to stick around. When the New Orleans Pipe Club started in 2014, it was only three or four guys who would occasionally meet up to smoke their pipes. The founder was also trying to get a New Orleans Pipe Show set up for 2015. By the time the Pipe Show happened, the "club" had maybe 10 members.
In 2018 we decided to become an official club with annual dues and polo shirts with the pipe club logo. We would sometimes have 20 to 25 members show up for the monthly meetings before the pandemic.
We had our first meeting in two years last month and had 14 pipe smokers show up. It was great.
Being a member of a local pipe club wouldn't work for me. In general, I just don't like people very much. Then the next thing you know they want to smoke your blends, then borrow pipes, then they would "forget their wallets" so you would have to pick up the drink tab. Then the next thing you know they want to borrow money and help them move furniture and borrow your truck! At some point, I'd probably end up shooting someone, so it'd probably wouldn't work for me. Woody Allen once said in response to a reporter asking why he didn't attend any of the elite Hollywood bashes "it's not that I'm anti-social, I'm just not social" and that best describes me. 🤣
“Recently tried starting a club here in Phoenix, so far only three members“ There are already two established pipes clubs in PHX that I’ve been involved with. I didn’t attend but the AZPC met today.
My homes in WI and SoAZ are smoke friendly and I have been “feathered” my nest for smoking comfort. I always have a rotation of pipes, tampers, lighters and other ephemera at hand.
Sometimes front porch, sometimes back porch, and sometimes while lunting. But usually in my little cubbyhole in the garage... never any wind, I have a window + fan for venting, comfortable chair, table for accessories, drinks and snacks. You can take my house, but leave my garage alone...

It would, I still have to go out there. like I said, I'm really getting soft in my old age.
That sounds like a blues album. 😂
Should be. 🤔 I have an idea
Three is better than one….one is not much of club 🙁
I’m either agreeing with myself or arguing with my “other” self.

Yeah, but how do you really feel about pipe clubs?

I miss being able to smoke a pipe in a local park.
It seems like there are more places we can't smoke, that places we can. What a state this world is in!
Can't argue with that, brother...
