Have been a Raiders fan since the late 80s. Let's just say then have been in a slump for awhile so don't get too worked up over pro football lately. Also think I am one of the few Husker fans that miss the Bo Pelini drama. Always seem to make for an interesting game. Also one of the few Husker fans that probably doesn't thing Mike Riley has what it takes. Went from a coach that has a record of .713 wins to a .532 winning record.
@abreathawayfromglory - I was stationed in Seattle when the Seahawks started and was a big fan of Jim Zorn, Steve Largent and even Dave Kreig. The Seahawks were my #1 team until I got stationed in New Orleans for a second tour before I retired. I still follow them but liked it better when they were in the AFC.
@topaz - It wasn't so much the inconsistency but his small hands. I actually liked Jim Zorn more. Can't say enough about Steve Largeant either. For a slow white guy, he caught a lot of passes and held just about all the receiving records before Jerry Rice.
1. Alabama is who we thought they were. University of Washington, not so much.
2. I think sports writers finally paid attention to the fact that LSU has a good defense. Either that or a lot of over-hype resulted in Lamar Jackson winning the Heisman.
3. Jim Harbaugh showed poor sportsmanship in the Michigan loss. Really? Calling 2 timeouts at the end of a game when you are losing and the other team has a 1st down and 24 seconds left?
4. Ohio State? Did you forget you were supposed to play in the game? Or did Urban Meyer expect Clemson to just lay down and give him the win?
5. Lamar Jackson - maybe you shouldn't hang out with Johnny Manziel.
The childish and increasingly obnoxious behavior of vast numbers of NFL players has really ruined for me. I used to enjoy it immensely, but at this point find it unwatchable.
For me, it began several years ago when they began spiking the ball and/or dancing around like fools after every play. The great players of the past didn't do this shit: They simply prided themselves in playing a good game. It's just gotten worse year after year.
For awhile I ignored the regular season, but did tune in to watch the playoffs. Now, thanks to Kaepernick et al, I don't even do that.
Sorry about the rant, but the decline or professional sports during my lifetime is one of the things that genuinely pisses me off. It seems that what was once a great national pastime has now become little more than an embarrassing joke.
