The short answer? Yes. I find pipe smoking to be very relaxing. The majority of my pipe smoking is done in my car. I have an hour and ten minute drive to and from work, four days a week. On the drive to work, the pipe helps me contemplate and outline my day ahead. On the way home, it seems to help me unwind and "slow down" from the day. I was a cigarette smoker in the past and it was indeed a habit. I can't say it was particularly relaxing. It was automatic. With the pipe, it is much more thoughtful, contemplative, enjoyable and thus relaxing.
In a word, yes. It is the reason I smoke a pipe. While some find pipe smoking fussy, I prefer to think of as ritual; selecting a pipe, matching it with a particular tobacco, packing, lighting, and contemplating the universe while enjoying the smoke. There is nothing else quite like it.
Oh yeah, absolutely relaxing to go through the ritual of selection, packing, tamping, lighting, and slipping into the best cadence for the selected combination. Almost always done on the back porch, usually with my buddy Blake (my dog) in my lap or at my feet.
Aye, they do indeed! Especially in the morning before the rest of the house is up. My ritual is to light a candle lantern, prep a bowl and a cuppa tea (usually Second Breakfast from the Country Squire and Barry’s Gold with cream and sugar), and quietly sit sipping both as I greet the awakening day from the back porch. Peaceful, contemplative, rejuvenating. 🙏🏻
Yes in can be relaxing,Honestly I never gave it much thought. I know it is a must when I go out walking and listening to my IPod and it something that I look forward to doing. I can’t say that I actually sit down and smoke,I’m one of these types that is either standing or walking with my pipe. Probably missing part of the experience of smoking a pipe.
