@motie2 - It's a combination of things - genetics and stress among them. I blame it on the stress of my 10 years working for a printing company and working 50 - 70 hours a week.
@motie2 - I've been going grey since my mid twenties, I'm 47 now and almost all gray. My mother tells me my hair has been confused since birth, I was born blond, turned dark brown (almost black) and now am gray. My beard though was red, until it turned gray too in my 40's. @pappyjoe, I tried to blame the gray on getting married but my wife won't listen to that.
By the way to stay somewhat on topic, I smoke on the back and front porch, on the golf course and at my pipe club.
@ioammi - They never accept the blame. I also blame the youngest daughter but she says its my fault.. The youngest (now 32) likes to use the words, "You raised me!" for some reason.
@PappyJoe -- I hear ya, Pappy. I have two adult sons. The eldest, 40, is "Ritchie from Happy Days".... the younger, 38, is "Caligula."
As I am given to understand it, the younger one is the result of the curse my father put on me: "Someday, you'll have a son, and he'll do to you what you've done to me." <small shy grin>
Hmm. I grew my beard in the early 70's. Dark brown with a small touch of gray. I got married and 5 tears later I can play Santa. See what marriage can do to you?
I am in the same boat as @Corey562. We obviously don't have a man-cave (my dream of the near future). But given decent weather, I really do enjoy front porch/sun room. As I'm sure most of you do, I also have a bowl while doing yard work or when I cross the street to fish at the neighborhood pond. I sometimes wish I had some "Bass Pond" blend to smoke while fishing. Anyone tried it yet?...
I live on the third floor of a condo building and we have two balconies, both with lovely views. SWMBO doesn't allow me in the house, and truthfully I wouldn't want the place to start reeking of stale smoke. I pick the balcony with the least breeze at any given moment. Since I'm in Texas, I can pretty much sit out here year round - I sweat a bit more in the summer and when winter comes in mid-January, I think I'm going to have to invest in a smoking jacket, or put it on my Christmas list.
@Corey562 I don't know what that little building is located in your pic, but wouldn't it be cool if you could turn it into a man cave... I'm just saying...
@KA9FFJ that little building is a well house. Its not all that big I do have a barn and a 24×18 shop right behind the house I work in during the winter I would like to cut it in half with a wall and make a smoking lounge.
That's a great idea. Wish I had some extra room to have a smoking space all my own. We plan on moving within the next year or two and have a smaller house built. I will enlarge the garage and wall off a small room to call my own for pipe smoking... For now, I can only dream.
@pwkarch If you mean for the down-sized house, no thanks. We already found the plans for the house. If you mean for the "man cave" that I'm wanting to incorporate within the garage, I am looking for ideas on what would be the best utilization of space and required heating, air filtering, etc. that would be need to provide optimal use of the space. Ah, to sleep, perchance to dream...

40% = Comfortable rocking chair on my covered front porch.
20% = The garage workshop.
10% = golf.
30% = Whenever/wherever.
New home within the next 2 years and I will have a man cave that will change all the above percentages...
Architect here as well......with a very long career

Good luck with the barn...
Do you need an Architect?
