@PappyJoe I have removed the valves and used the ramrod in this fashion, I thought the same thing that it was just like cleaning a barrel. My Kirstens are newer but they still have some of the same features as the older models. I agree they are quick to disassemble and reassemble probably why I enjoy them more.
My experience with metal pipe is they can generate a whole lot of stink if you don't remove the bowl and clean out the bottom after every smoke. Especially if you are a wet smoker and favor naturally moist aromatics.
