I had a love affair with aero's and my go to in that category is Captain Black Royal....BUT.....now that i found a new love in english blends my new go to is McClelland's Frog Morton.
I bounce back and forth between PS Luxury Navy Flake, PS Bullseye Flake and H&H Louisiana Red most of the time but like to try a lot of others. You could say I'm a VaPer fan...
My go to depends on what I'm in the mood for, but it's usually McClelland 5100 Red Cake, No. 27, or Beacon Extra. However, I was lucky enough to get a tin of the Frank Burla 1996 CPCC Show Blend and it is excellent!
looks like we have a bunch of us who enjoy PS Luxury Navy Flake. I bounce between that, McClelland's 27, 24, and for a change of pace, GLP Picadilly or Dunhill EMP
My favorite straight-up aromatic is Tsuge's The Mystery of Autumn - super smooth and tasty blend that I discovered at the Chicago Pipe Show this year. My favorite 'crossover' is Shortcut to Mushrooms by Just For Him. My favorite English blend is probably Frog Morton's Cellar (which I know some will also call a crossover). What can I say? I have a sweet tooth. On the occasion that I'm in the mood for a Latakia bomb, I go for Mac Barren's HH Latakia Flake.
Trying to pick a go to tobacco is not easy to do. My tastes for different tobaccos vary over time. However, in the last year, I've been on a rum kick. Top picks are C&D Black Frigate, and Blockade Runner. These are followed by GH Rum Flake, GLP Sextant, and sometimes to sweeten up things a little, I'll mix in any of East India Trading Co's three blends, with my preference being Royal Challenge. I'm not a big fan of most rum aromatics though as they seem a little artificial to me. But hey, that's just me, I've got nothing against aros in general.
Hearth & home Blackhouse. I also gravitate to G.L. Pease's Gaslight. This could change though as I am continuing to delve into all the English / Balkan blends I can get my hands on. Next up... Balkan Sasieni, John Cotton's Smyrna, and McClelland's Wilderness! This is so much fun!
Since between 1998 and 1999 my go to smoke has been Super Value Vanilla. I am a huge fan of aromatics. I know they tend to get a lot of slack in the pipe community, but I stand by them. Always have been and always will be a fan of aromatics.
Seems like I've been reaching for C&D's Three Friars every time I head out for a pipe. I make it a point to also have a bowl of C&D's Exhausted Rooster and MacBaren's Navy Flake once a week. If I have an English blend, right now I'll have Squadron Leader or Frog Morton's On the Buyou.
Basically, all things Scandinavian, mostly. Captain Black Dark, Lane 1Q, C&D's Autumn Evening, Sutliff Vanilla Custard, Carter Hall, Mac Baren 7 Seas Royal, and Orlik Golden Sliced. Yah, I know... only a couple of those are by Scandinavian.
Summer is here and my pipes a full of old belt Virginias. Capstan flake and MB HH Pure Virginia to be more precise. Nothing like that sweet, fresh cut clover tin note, with pungent citrus, and ripe stone fruit halfway through the bowl. Simple enough to smoke all day, with enough intrigue to make you want it all day.
Lately my favorite go-to tobacco has been McClelland St. James Woods. When I'm not smoking St. James Woods it's been 2 year aged Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bulls Eye.

Right now it has to be Comoy’s Cask No. 4 Stand Fast Navy
flake. I enjoy this flake rubbed out in a cob.
