Whoa!!! Beautiful! Just beautiful! I'm really liking the top right and the bottom right pipes. Don't get me wrong, ANY of them would be a great addition to my collection... Nicely done!
More importantly, it's good to hear from you brother...
Is your son continuing to show interest in your pipe-making expertise?
By the way, I see the "AB" initials on the table top... Nice touch
I know this is not creating my own pipe, but I did not want to start a new discussion, so I’ll just put it here. I am in the process of making another tamper. I have the aluminum tamper foot and stainless steel poker done. I have the lathe turned Plum wood body (salvaged from my mom’s dead plum tree) in a mason jar with some MinWax Wood Hardener (cause, you know, who doesn’t like hard wood). It is under a (21-22 in Hg) vacuum so the solution penetrates the fibers thoroughly. After it is removed from the jar and it dries it will stabilize the wood from moisture throughout. To finish it, I will shine it up with some carnauba on the buffer. You will have to wait for the results🙂. By the way, the vacuum is the same one I use to seal my aromatic tobaccos in mason jars. I don’t vacuum seal my Virginia’s, so they can breath slightly for aging.
@Corey562 Me too😬. Should be just a day or two. When it was warmer out, it actually dried really quickly when I made some straight razor handles from the plum wood a while back.
A few pics of the recently finished pipe tamper I made. It is pretty simple, but I’m sure it will serve it’s intended purpose🙂. Some of the wood from the plum tree had a light purple tint in some of the grain, it looked pretty cool. Alas, this piece did not have any.

@Corey562 Brother, you're blowin' me away! Such variety! There's something for everyone! I've GOT to start saving up again for another pipe.
I don't need another pipe from you... but I WANT one!...
A different design for me...
Looks vaguely like a devolved Vauen Purisme.
I like it.... a lot.
