@LostMason you really punch the old feels button there. When I win the pipe, I'll smoke a bowl for you buddy and stare at a # of tobacco the whole time to make it super awkward.
@mhajec I hope you do win,and make that a bowl of GL Pease.Make it a real Gooper so you get the full expieience.BGettr yet load up some Old Joe Krantz and think on us old farts that are doing without. Lol
@mhajec - WHEN you do win, smoke what you like and don't waste your time thinking about the old farts on here.
@lostmason - I personally think that once you win, you shouldn't be eligible to win again for a year. Either that or they ship you a pound of tobacco instead of a pipe.
@PappyJoe,I would agree with on the pound versus pipe issue, but if @mhajec is gonna smoke one in our honor (so to speak),I just wanted to make a few suggestions.:)
And for the record,I wouldn't dream of smoking a gooper in a new pipe,or a freshly cleaned on at that,I save the goopers for a cob.If it gets gummed up and such I'm out what 5/10 bucks. Or at most about a day's cleaning.
@PappyJoe I agree with the one year thing and the tobacco thing. Oh, and also your old man comment. Although, sometimes when I'm smoking, I often find myself thinking about all the people who trailblazed the pipe scene and how appreciative I am that they did.
So thanks Pappy, for you know, inventing the pipe...

@papyjoe Age does not always mean wisdom but it usually means you've forgotten more than I have learned yet. I love sitting and talking with older people, older than me, and hear the stories of how different life used to be and the fun experiences they had. Its amazing how many older people were wilder when they were younger and the stories that go with it.
@drac2485 - I could tell you some stories. The icebreaker I was on managed to get kicked out of every port we stopped at on an Alaskan cruise one year - even Pt. Barrow and Adak. Pt. barrow was dry and Adak was a navy base. After the third day at Adak only the captain was allowed to go ashore without an escort.
@PappyJoe,while stationed at Ft Campbell we got to fly to Fairbanks Alaska for artic weather training. A battallion of Air Assault Infantry. The last week before we headed back to Ky,the 82nd sent their advanced party to prep for their arrival. At the EM club they posted MPs from both units to control any interactions. The MPs started the fight, the infantry ended the EM club.Shut it down for over 2 months repairs.$300 in fines for each man involved, around 35-40 from Ky and about the same from Ga.
One piece of instruction I've never forgot "A Hero is someone who dies for their country, As an Infantryman,it is or job to make as many Heros of the enemy as we can."
@drac2485 Retirement....? Sounds like a pipe dream, pun intended. I think you and I are in the same boat don't think we will be able to retire. You know it will probably work out that right when we get there some stipulation will come up that makes us wait for just another couple of years. HA HA HA.
Sometimes retirement just means you have to go out and find another job. I retired from the Coast Guard 23 years ago and it was just a matter of changes from a uniform to presentable civilian attire. Military retired pay isn't enough to live on.
