As I'm sitting here enjoying a bowl after a long day of prep for the quickly approaching start of the school year, I can think of two pieces of advice that have always served me well.
Firstly, my father always said, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." Of course this isn't one hundred percent applicable in all situations, but for general use, it's a very good policy.
Secondly, I heard somewhere to always try to be the person your pet thinks you are. Good advice for all of us.
Hope all of my fellow TPLers out there are having a terrific start to the week!
The best advice I've ever received, stay low and move fast. It actually applies to life far more than I had first believed it to. Second best piece of advice, hope is not a plan. It's great to be hopeful, but put some legs to your prayers.
My pops is always full of good advice nothing better than sitting with him and taking it all in while I was growing up he used to constantly tell me watch how you treat people today you never know who will end up as your boss tomarrow. And his favorite Don't live today like it is your last day live it like its your first. I still ponder that one.
Treat others the way you want to be treated. Wisdom is the reward you get for a lifetime of listening when you'd have preferred to talk. Don't expect something for nothing. Don's expect people to change. People make mistakes, if you can not forgive others do not expect them to forgive you. You are the expert of your own opinion.
