I know in the past we have all mentioned many, but I recently came across one I had forgotten. William Conrad TV , Movie, and radio actor. in his TV roll as Cannon He often smoked his pipe. Also writer, producer, Stephen J Canneli,he did many of the 70, and 80's TV shows.
I've heard back from the Archive department at Graceland and have some disappointing news. They were unable to find any information about his pipes or pipe tobacco.
This is what they reported; "Elvis wasn't much of a pipe smoker. He most often smoked cigars."
So there you have it. I was not about to ask what cigars he liked, because I'm not that interested and I doubt they really wanted to spend that much time on the subject. I guess for now the question goes unanswered, and he may not even have cared all that much. Too bad, I would like to have known.
We old timers recognize the Non-Elvis pictured above as Johnny Weissmuller. Given the nature of his Tarzan outfit, I suggest we not speculate as to where he might be carrying his tobacco and lighter.
This is news to me! I thought it was fried peanut butter and banana samwiches that got Elvis, but now you are telling me it was the needle? I guess that means I am free to run amok on fried peanut butter and banana samwiches. I love you guys! :^D
Yes that is Johnny Weissmuller aka Tarzan. He was a good old Chicago boy, Olympian swimmer, and actor. He grew up on the Northwest side of Chicago. I don't have the picture but I've seen The Killer Jerry Lee Lewis with Pipes. Now that's Rock & Roll!
