Mad bear from the Janktonai Suú tribe with its beautifully decorated pipe in the photograph by Alexander Gardner in 1872. AWESOMENESS MUCH HONOR AND RESPECT FOR THIS AMAZING ELDERLY WARRIOR
Seems the glass-plate negative obtained a curvey crack at some point.
@motie2 That guy/gal? with the earings... Well that's just spooky!... And check those ears out! 😳 Are we talking some form of hybrid elf here? Or possibly a Spock relation.?.?.?
Back in 2015, I was in Europe for a friend's wedding. While my wife and I were in Slovenia, one of the old ladies that was walking down the street with us was smoking a pipe. I had to do a double take, as it's certainly unusual. I saw more pipe smokers in three weeks in Europe than I usually do in the States in a year.
Captain Hector Waller, Captain, Royal Australian Navy. The Commander of the Scrap Iron Flotilla in Mediterranean during World War II.. The Scrap Iron Flotilla were five WWI era destroyers the British gave to Australia between the wars. When the flotilla arrived in Malta, the German's called it the Scrap Iron Fleet because they were so old and outdated. The Australian's liked the name so much they adopted the name and served with distinction sinking subs and taking part in the battle which basically eliminated any threats from the Italian Navy.
After a couple of years, the destroyers were sent back to Australia where they were used to fight the Japanese navy. Captain Waller went down with his ship during one battle.

Neither. Just an “interesting face.”
I liked "Mammy Yokem"...
However, I will say the sailor with the sucker fish is, IMHO, rather creepy... 😬
