McClelland's Grey Havens Pipe Tobacco

Hello Pipe and Tobacco Aficionados, hope all is well. Question, has anyone out there experienced another pipe tobacco that has even come close to the "Grey Havens" by McClelland. If so, what was it if you don't mind sharing ? Thank all of  you and remember, smoke what you like and like what you smoke. :-)

@KABUL07 - I love Grey Havens but haven’t smoked it in a while. Let me smoke a bowl, and then I’ll let you know what I think is similar.

If I remember correctly, it’s a pretty mild Virginia blend with a light topping.

So, I smoked a bowl of Grey Havens this morning. I forgot how much I liked this one. It's a VA/Bur blend with just a hint of perique and some very light topping. I'm not a huge perique fan, but this has just the right amount for me.

On TobaccoReviews.com a few folks mentioned that it tasted like a cross between GL Pease's Haddos Delight and Barbary Coast. I've not tried either, but now I will. Maybe getting both tins and mixing them might yield a similar experience for you. It's worth a try.

Another option may be to use C&D Opening Night as a base and mix in a slight amount of perique and white burley. This is one of my favorite Virginia blends and would be a good base for adding the other elements.

I am bummed, and on board with Chuck Stanion about “Beacon”.  I was late to the party, I had just started smoking in 2012.  I found “Beacon” at a local “pipe day” function at one of our local tobbanists, it was one of the sample tobaccos that day, along with “Beacon Extra” and many others.  I only purchased one tin of “Beacon” soon after tasting it.  I wish I had more, oh well🙁.  According to Jeremy Reeve’s recommendations and Chuck Stanion’s pick, I purchased C&D “Speakeasy”.  I have to say, it does not compare to “Beacon”, for me at anyway.
