Partaking in March Meerschaum Madness this evening. Smoking some C&D “Orion’s Arrow” in the first new block meerschaum pipe I bought. I have, up until today only smoked BCA in it. I can taste and smell the awesomeness of the BCA in the background peeking through this “Orion’s Arrow”. Yes, meerschaum ghosts.
Note to self: Make sure my butane lighter is lit before pushing the igniter......ash everywhere😖
@RockyMountainBriar Sorry to hear about the butane lighter/ash experience. The only reason it's funny is because I've been there! Anyway, really like the lines on that pipe. Classy looking...
I finished smoking all 50 pipes in my collection (briars, meerschaums and cobs) including some I haven't smoked in over a year. Tomorrow I will start with the meerschaums again.
Doing some Lane BCA in a Rhodesian. MMM is about to close for the year. Sad in a way, but I have acquired a few briars I"m anxious to try out. The secret, which I'm lousy at doing, is to not forget my meers and try to incorporate them in my rotation on a regular basis... Anyway, one more day to show us your meerschaums for March Meerschaum Madness...
Ok. This is it. The last day of MMM. Decided to go out with a bang. Besides blowing a few rings, here's the plan... Doing some Sutliff Christmas Spice, one bowl each in my Zouave AND my latticed billiard. Then reloading again, this time with Lane BCA. Once again, in both pipes. So 4 bowls today to bring MMM to an official close until next year... Estimating my last bowl starting around 7pm CST.
Well, this one has a short story. I acquired this Rhodesian meer at an estate sale. It was in decent shape and didn't seem to be abused. Cost me 10 bucks. Anyway, after scrubbing, brushing, and everything else I could think of to THOROUGHLY clean the stem, I realized that the stem was actually very clean. What I was seeing was the BLACK insert that would NEVER change to clear/white. Here's what the stem looks like, both sides... Can you see why I didn't like it?
I broke out another tobacco sample from a fellow piper today. I decided to go with a small bowled pipe just in case the Vitamin-N kicked my @$$. It happens to be a two-fer as it is a meerschaum bowl for the start of MMM. The tobacco is Gawith, Hoggarth and Company’s “Happy Brown Bogie”. I was going to use a little Pete, but thought I should start smaller with this infamously strong tobacco.
Went from 84 degrees yesterday to 48 degrees today. Some Haddes Best Irish in the first meerschaum I acquired. A CAO Cavalier I received as a Christmas present in 1984.
@RockyMountainBriar I really like that pipe, but your beard has kind of backgrounded out the shape of the stem. Can you repost a pic of your pipe with a clearer shot of the stem? Tnx...

Still going strong with my meerschaums...

Sorry. This "shelter-in-place" has driven me slightly batty.
You gotta love a man with a plan!
