@Londy3 IMHO I have always thought that all pipe enthusiasts owe it to themselves to own at least one meerschaum, no matter how modest the pipe. It delivers a slightly different smoking experience and broadens the overall appreciation for the hobby. I know a couple of friends who start off with mini size pipes (Ebay - 20/35 bucks) just to get an idea what the fuss is all about. Again, IMHO... Sidenote: I've seen mini meerschaum claws on Ebay. Naturally they don't have the detail of a full size, but for an "entry level", might be worth considering...
Most of those mini-meerschaums are a pressed concoction. They break very easily and are not quite the same as block. It is amazing to me how incredibly lightweight a good meerschaum pipe can be for the size.
I’ve been under the weather some (probably coronavirus? NOT). Hopefully none of you will get sick from me through this forum (with the craziness that is going on some might believe it’s possible🤪). I decided to smoke the inaugural smoke in this new bowl in this old CPF Calabash I refurbished years ago. The bit has a slot on the top of the stem like a P-Lip or more like what is on a Savinelli “Dry System” stem. I actually like it much better than a P-Lip, it spreads the smoke out over a wider area and does not focus the smoke at one point on the roof of my mouth. I think I might have to smoke it more🤔
After taking the grandkids home (about a 25 min. drive), doing some Lane BCA in my CAO latticed billiard on my way back home... HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!
Well, I’m going for a twofer tonight with a rare, second nightly bowl. Smoking my Peterson Meerschaum for March Meerschaum Madness and loaded with Peterson’s St. Patrick’s Day 2018 LE tobacco in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.
Sorry you guys have to see the same pipes over and over, but with only 5 meerschaums, my rotation for MMM is rather limited. Doing some Lane RLP-6 in a Sultan... again... But this is the month I give them a workout.
Smoking some University by McClelland in my SMS Egg & claw meerschaum. This is an orange Virginia and it’s the only thing I smoke it this pipe. Working on a consistent patina.
Well, I've smoked through all of my meerschaums - including the meerschaum bowl for my Kirsten - and since I am in a quasi-self imposed stay-at-home mode, I might as well start smoking through my rotation of meerschaum again.
I'm going to light up my CAO meerschaum cob shaped pipe with some Esoterica St. Ives in just a few minutes.
@PappyJoe I only have 5 meerschaums, so I've been through all at least 3 to 4 times this month. Enough left of the month that I'll probably make 5 or 6 times each. And usually when I smoke one, I smoke 2 bowls before going on to the next one. They, and me, will be due a rest by the end of the month. Just did some Lane RLP-6 in my latticed meerschaum billiard...
I still don't have any full meerschaum pipes, but I did clean up this nice meerschaum lined Weber this winter. Going to get some Danish blend into it tonight after things quiet down here.
