Some of you are in the YTPC and some are not. This is a great community of pipe smokers that I have been part of the last few years. I just learned the tragic news that Matches 860 (John harden) has pasted away. I'm shocked and don't have any words to say, I just felt the need to post this. Fill a bowl in his honor today. If you don't know John, check out his YouTube channel. He will be greatly missed. My prayers go out to his family and fellow YTPC.

I am thinking about hosting a YouTube live event this Friday at 7pm EST and welcome you all to join me. This will be in honor of his Friday night live broadcast.

Oh My God this is horrible news. I've been a follower of John for several years. I can't believe it. He was planning his retirement within the next few weeks.

I am deeply saddened by John's passing. He was a great story teller and a natural in front of the lens. Though he only lived a few miles away from me, I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person. God bless him and his family.

I have to say that I'm going through an odd phase in my life. I don't recall ever losing so many people in such a short period of time  that I knew or that had an impact on my life. With each loss I'm reminded to live life to the fullest and to be kind and generous to others. Carpe diem, friends. Carpe diem.

Thank you so much for doing this and posting this message here. I'm really surprised Savinelli agreed to do this. When will this pipe be available? 

Also, I was on a call with Simon (London is calling) and he is also crafting that pipe to auction and all proceeds will go to John's family as well.

I think it said the preorder goes until March 1st.  I didn’t see if it said any other dates, I just ordered and did my part to pay tribute to John.  I only got to watch 3 of his Friday night live steams.  I was already hooked and it is such a shame that he passed.

You know, one of the things I thought would be really cool for his family is to extract it and make a downloadable library or DVD/Blu-Ray of all his videos for purchase.

I'm going through a lot of his videos at the moment.  He has a very interesting style to his stories and reviews.

@Oddjob27 good idea. I hope Katie keeps it open. There is an app you can download YT videos but it's one at a time..ugh.

Eddie Gray from The Pipe Nook has pretty much let us know this will be a several month process. He's not sending the order to Savinelli until the first of March. From that point it's in the hands of Savinelli on the actual production of the pipes. It's been several weeks since I heard anything new from Eddie (not that he hasn't posted anything ... if he did I just didn't see it) - but at the time I put in my order he posted a video stating that the response was even more than he imagined. He had over 400 pre-orders at that time. It may have doubled since I saw the message. I'm sure Savinelli probably wasn't expecting such a huge order. So at that time Eddie asked that we be patient and expect anywhere from three to six months for the orders to be fulfilled. And said the orders would be shipped in the pre-order as received. I ordered mine 2/12. Don't know where that puts me on the list - but I've got patience and understand how large an undertaking this was. Just glad to be among the members of the YouTube Pipe Smokers Community to have a Matches 860 "Friday Savinelli" Tribute Pipe in my collection. And thank Eddie Gray for taking on this task.
