Went out yesterday - pay day- to look for some Christmas Cheer. P&C, SP, and 4N were all out. Happily I was able to find a couple of tins at Mars. Added 2 tins of Capstan Original Ready Rubbed and 5 pouches of Amphora Original to the cart before I checked out.
Succumbed to the Stanwell sale at P&C and then threw in some tobacco - 3 tins of Mind Meld Virginia Ribbon and 2 tins of Bengal Slices. All heading for the cellar, since they are all recent blends.
I have become obsessed with a couple tobaccos lately.
Just ordered 2 tins of GL Pease Regent's Flake, and 2 tins of Escudo which will be arriving at my office today supposedly.
I ARE EXCITED!!!
This will be my first attempt at cellaring for real. I have almost a full tin of each in mason jars that i am slowly smoking thorough, so at least one each of the pair coming in will be set aside for a while... as long as i can hold off.
I'm just back from the Columbus show, where I scored two unopened 7 oz. packs of Ries 3 star Grey, from Jud Perlson. This blend started its life in 1957 as 100th Anniversary, celebrating Iwan Ries' century as a family business. Back then they had 3 Star blend, an aromatic that in time became their best seller. To capitalize on this popularity, they decided to rename their aromatic blends as 3 Star (color). Thus, 100th Anniversary became 3Star Grey. Others blends are Gold, Red, Green, Royal, etc. Grey was the first blend I could smoke without burning my tongue, back in 1959.
At the NASPC show I picked up 2 tins each of the 2 limited edition blends (Nightwraith, a heavy latakia and Invasion! a lighter latakia), two tins of St. Bruno's Flake, and one tin each of C&D Yorktown and C&D Burley Flake #1.
While at the show I placed an order with P&C which should arrive today: 2 100g tins of McC Christmas Cheer 2016 6 2oz tins of GL Pease Embarcadero
Courtesy of a quick stop at The Pipe Puffer tobacco shop on the far south side of Indianapolis this morning: 8 oz bag of Esoterica Dunbar, 2 oz tin of Esoterica Dunbar, 8 oz bag of Esoterica Dorchester, and a tin of McClelland CPCC Samovar.
@pipeman83 I haven't cracked it. I want to, but since it's pretty much a straight VA I try to let it sit for at least two years. I doubt I'll make it that long.
Meanwhile, I just did a little more cellar-building at P&C:
8oz Hearth and Home Lousiana Red 6oz Peter Stokkebye LBF 2x3.5oz McClelland Christmas Cheer 2017
I have been getting a sample pack from Cigar and Pipe, I was getting 2 and 2 plus a corn cob pipe but I changed it to only Aromatic, decided I like the aromatic better....so I made a new post called Trading post, thought maybe others did what I did and ended up with some Tobacco they didn't like, thought we could all do some trading in the near future.....
