Pipe Racks and Cabinets

Hello Pipe and Tobacco Aficionados. I must say it has been some time for me but it's good to chat once again. I was wondering if anyone out there  has made the pipe, stand/rack adjustments since you have been a smoker of the brier and blends. I looked around one day and noticed that I have seven pipe stands ranging in sizes, from one stand that holds three pipes to two stands that holds twenty-two pipes per stand. I must admit I was in shock when I noticed that I had so many pipes, being a smoker of the brier and blends since my collegent days. I am now looking at moving my pride and joy briers into a cabinet, any suggestions on establishments in which to purchase such an item or makers, etc. When in doubt always asks the pros. Thanks team, and keep your blends fresh and briers cleaned. :-)

Ummmm . . . hate to mention it, but a brier (I've run across the term funeral brier a few times over the decades) is a whole different kind of fire from what we generally kindle inside our briar.

However, I see from the computer's dictionary that it is an acknowledged alternate spelling of briar, when in reference to the plant they come from. I'll have to remember that.

My landscaper friend explained the  difference between briar and brier being that briar is any thorny plant, while brier is a plant with thorny stems, growing in dense clusters.

I find this interesting, but unsatisfying as an explanation

Thank all of you for the updated information and educational experience. “BRIERWOOD” is what I was referring to, (My bad and I apologize). Would anyone out there have any information in reference to cabinets that will hold “BRIERWOOD” Tobacco Pipes. Brier-Wood, the hard woody root used to make “Tobacco pipes.” Lessons learned, out here.

Thanks once again for the great reading and knowledge. Some people say that the best pipe they ever smoked was the pipe they were smoking at the time. Question, is your most expensive pipe really your best smoking pipe, just asking. 🙂

No, but my favorite pipe remains the first pipe I purchased, back in the day. It cost fifteen bucks back then, and since then, I've never spent more than thirty. Almost all of my pipes are used/estate pipes from eBay.

😂😂😂 I agree, my first pipe is also a great smoker that I purchased in 1976 from a place called the Tinder Box for about $12.00 (Basket). I also have and smoke plenty of estate pipes from the old school. Upshaw, Peterson, Wilmer, four dot. Thanks for sharing.

"Best" pipe is always subjective. My three most expensive (retail value) pipes are an Ardor and two Rinaldo Triads which I won in long smoke competitions. All three are great smokers with perfect drilling and comfortable bits. What I would consider my "Best" smoking pipe, however, is the Stefano Santambrogio (an Acorn shape, I think) which I smoked in the competitions where I won those three pipes.

I hate to talk about best pipe. I have my magic inch that smokes cool and dry, Peterson that fits my hand like a glove. I have a Kaywoodie that has gone countless miles with me on long hikes. I have my Dr G that has seen me through the birth and sad to say death of a child. 
Pipes have personality. My best pipe will always be the one I have close by when I am in need of the calm and peace only a pipe smoker can comprehend.

I agree with you. Many times depending on the mood and mind set, I think this may play a part as to which pipe one may reach for at that time. "Comfort" is what we seek. Thanks.

Mine will hold 48 pipes with the bottom shelf at 8” and other 3 at 6.5”.  Not inexpensive but the quality should be worth it.  He will custom build whatever you want and is easy to work with.
This was a Christain gift from my wife who tired of my pipes scattered all over the place.  When it arrives I’ll try to remember to post a photo.

What a very nice show of pipe cabinets as well as the pipes that are displayed within them. It also indicates to me that there are some very serious pipe smokers and collectors out there who care for and Cherish there Pipes deeply, it’s good to see and after all some pipes are an investment to say the least. The displays are getting better and better. Thanks again for sharing.

If you have come to a point in your life we’re as you can afford some of your comforts such as, nice Pipes, fine tobacco(s) and soft drinks 😂 so be it. Don’t worry, be happy. I personally don’t see a problem with you stocking your favorite tobacco blends, cabinets of nice pipes, lighters, tampers, etc. especially if you work  hard for the things you what and own. Live and enjoy life with comfort when ever you can. I enjoy seeing your nice Pipes and tobacco life styles and thank you once again for sharing. 🙂
