The only pipe on my wish list is one that is probably not for sale. A hand carved Giger ALIEN pipe. And if it was for sale it's probably too far out of my price range.
@ghostsofpompeii You need to take a look at Oguz Simsek. I purchased a very detailed skull pipe made by him for what seemed to me to be a very reasonable price. I’m sure he could pull off something like that alien. I think I may have posted a pic of it around here at sometime. I will try to scare it up again.
@Zouave It’s a red/black Cumberland pattern acrylic. I wish it was true Cumberland, it would be a bit easier on the teeth, but the softie fixes that and keeps the marks out of the stem👍🏻
@Zouave Last year, I did a trade with @RockyMountainBriar for a Calabash pipe, and I can say they're fun, unique pipes. While they require a bit more maintenance than your average pipe, it's well worth the extra work. There's nothing like loading a Calabash with a heavy English blend and puffing away in your favorite chair. You really feel like a detective working on a case, but that just be my active imagination.
@thebadgerpiper you paint a great picture. Someday I'll find one 😁 I do see them on eBay often. A new one is way out of my price range at this point in life. They sure are nice looking though.
@Michael308 Dunhill and Savinelli are both good brands with some Savinelli's like the Giubileo d'Oro and the Punto Oro often compared to the mid-range or better Dunhill's. By the same token, there are some Dunhill's that are compared to the more common Italian pipes.
Are you looking for brand new pipes or thinking good estate pipes?
@Londy3 I'm sure that now, since the CoronaVirus has decimated Italy the way that it has ... and considering the Savinelli pipes are made in Italy, we'll probably have an even longer wait for the pipes to arrive. I was thinking I'd get mine sometime around my birthday in June ... now I'm starting to think it will be my Christmas present this year.
Hey Guys, great discussion and learn session for me. Why certain pipes were choosen, interesting. And Almost without exception it's the "But now. want to try something else. What I love about pipe smoking, the variety. Fortunately, my first good pipe (After school and had a couple of bucks to spend) was a Savanelli. It was soo good that for years I just bought more Savanellis, different sizes and shape. Not a one I don't like. After a little experience now I think that it's hard to beat that Italian company for really good, dependable pipes that won't break the bank, unless of course you are so inclined, Cause they can go way up. But for $100-150 you can get a beauty. In todays world that's almost a bargain! But I broke that mold too, just too much temptation out there. Almost bought a Petersen so many times..and I will. My newest is a Chacom, French as you experienced smokers know. I like it a lot, a shortie with a big bowl and rounded everywhere. And it was sold to me by a Lady at the Tobacconist shop. My more rcent great find are the from the Gubbels Pipe Company in Holland which sells here under the name Big Ben at PCI. The quality for the price is unbeatable. I have 3 now. Well, so many discussions and so little time..Thanks for letting me share, Beech
@1Beechnutguy2 from everything I see the savinelli pipes are well worth the money. So far except for a very few new pipes all of my pipes are estate pieces. At some point I'm going to have to crack and grab one of the Savinelli pipes. I love the look of the Gingers favorite and Clark's favorite.
Has anyone on here tried any of the Vauen Auenland Shire pipes? They are damn expensive but look great. It wouldn't be #1 on the list but I would consider adding one to it.

Here is that Oguz Simsek-FineArtPipes.com. He makes all kinds of “monster” pipes.

I have now come up with a new "Top 3" list for myself:
1. A Mark Tinsky pipe - either one of his capped pipes or his cutty shape.
2. A pipe from repipes.com (http://rdpipes.briar.club/)
3. Maybe a Randy Wiley, Scott Klein or ???
