First three pipes on your “to purchase” list

I know we all have wish lists. What three pipes are on yours this coming Christmas? 

Mine are “the ranger” recommended by the helpful people of this pipe life. An all wooden remake of aragorns pipe from LOTR

second would be a briarworks prince shaped pipe, not quite sure which finish, but I’ve been wanting one of these for a while now

lastly, a savinelli st. Nicholas from 2017, i missed the boat on that pipe last year, but smoking pipes still has a few, the peppermint stem is beautiful, and maybe one day I’ll pull the trigger on one

I have three on my "To-buy" list. I'm not sure if I'll get any of them, but a guy can dream.

1) A Calabash Pipe, since every distinguished pipe smoker should own one.

2) A Peterson System Pipe, either a straight or bent billiard will do.

3) A Savinelli Bing or Prince pipe. I'd also take an Alligator billiard, too.

I'm also going to put down one of the outlaw series of corncob pipes from Missouri Meerschaum.

I would like a Paulo Becker Smooth Rhodesian,  One of Tom Eltang's Eskimo/Ukulele pipes, and  a Castello Great Line Yachtsman.

@thebadgerpiper — Every pipe smoker needs a Peterson System pipe! The best smoking pipe I own is a Peterson 302. I have two in fact (smooth & rusticated). Once you break in a Pete they’re hard to beat.

Agree with Jfreedy, Petersons are great pipes. I have a bunch of them. Right now don't have any pipe wish.

@TaylorJDutton Peterson's outnumber the rest of the pipe makers in my collection. They have this classic style to them that will always appeal to the eye.

@jfreedy I'm a huge fan of Peterson's, and my first pipe was a Pete. Yet I've never owned one of their Deluxe system pipes. They're pricier than their other pipes, but for a good reason. The silver mount just looks so nice on them.

My 3 would be a set of the Peterson Killarney Reds, the Calabash bent B10, - Straight Pot 606P-,  and the 69 Bent Billiard,  would be a beautiful collective set. IMO.

I may have misunderstood.....the three pipes I listed were “wish list” pipes.  As far as the next three on my list....well whatever three catch my eye when I am able to purchase them.  Best chance would be some old pipe in good condition to refurbish from “The EBay”😉

I don't know about next three, but sooner or later I do want to get both the MM Wizard and the MM Freehand, and perhaps their "forever" stems for my 2 Cobbits. I'd like to find a good churchwarden with at least a medium-sized bowl capacity. It's annoying when reading a decent book to have to interrupt it to re-stuff one's pipe every 15 or 20 minutes.

I'm not antisocial, more ... a-social probably.

@Corey562, I agree James Upshall makes some great pipes. I have a bark finish  from them and would love a higher grade pipe. For now I will just enjoy the one I have.

@AnantaAndroscoggin , Neerup has some good churchwardens on smokingpipes.com.  Reasonably priced too.  I have my eye on one...

I honestly don't know. My "bucket list" used to include Dunhill's, Ardor, Ascorti and Castello. In the past two years I've acquired the Ascorti Business KS, two Dunhill's (a 1926 Bruyere Patent Innertube and a Red Bark), An Ardor Venere (long smoke competition prize) and just last month a Castello Sea Rock Briar.

I still have not added any of my “bucket list/wish list” piles to my collection.  Paulo Becker’s, Castello Great Lines, and Tom Eltang’s high grades are all nearing or blasting through that $1000 mark...even as estates.

I know that usually name and quality go hand in hand, but I have never been a brand name person. I understand and appreciate those that are, but I'm more interested in mechanics and aesthetics.
I have some noname pipes that are as good, if not better than some of the "big name" pipes mechanically speaking. 
That being said, my bucket list is always open to shapes, sizes, aesthetics and mechanics (famous names, obscure names or no names).

As far as “big names” I am not necessarily drawn to a “name”, but the style and aesthetics of some makers draw me like a moth to a flame.  I think most well made pipes are equal to each other as far as “smoke-ability”  and there can be some, even in well made pipes, that just won’t smoke.  When it comes to selecting a pipe, appealing aesthetics come first.  Without being able to visually inspect a pipe in hand inside and out, proper mechanics are not part of the equation.  You must make this selection with a leap of faith and take word of mouth (with a grain of sand) about said pipe makers skills, even then, it will not be guaranteed to smoke well.   So, I very much select a pipe on external aesthetics and I know my above three choices have met my “criteria” with many different pipes in the past.  The chance that I ever possess any pipes by these makers is very slim, but I can wish.  That being said, these choices should have come under a different topic, but there it is.  Getting back on topic, I guess the next three that strike my fancy aesthetically will be the ones I am going to buy, so I guess I really don’t have a “To purchase next list”🤔

I know it's a bit cliche, but I am a big Sherlock Holmes fan. Go figure right? So a real gourd Calabash has always topped my list, and yes I know he didn't smoke one in the stories. 😬
Next would be a Peterson Spigot pipe or one of the Army mounts. Last would be one of the Eldridge pipes from Rattrays with the spikes on it. Perhaps not the most functional pipe out there but it still makes me laugh.
