Hurricane Florence!

As some of you know, I reside in Raleigh, NC which is exactly where Florence is heading. We have never seen a storm like this but are expecting to get up to 110mph winds, devastating floods and it can go on for days. Looks like Friday is D-day for us!

Got some supplies today to prepare for the hurricane. Walmart was completely cleaned out!  People were in line just to get water jugs. Things are starting to get a little crazy.

Get some propane for cooking, as the electric will be out.

I got out my old Coleman camping stove with four propane cans. Got several gallons of water, hurricane lamp, flashlight, batteries, extra phone battery, canned goods, non-perrishables, manual opener, garbage bags, TP and more. Still working on my survival kit.

Prayers for you and your family @Londy3 Well I guess no one is buying out the Skinny Pop at walmart based upon the picture.  All joking aside stay safe and as dry as possible. From the reports this will be a rough storm I hope it doesn't last long.

This doesn't sound like a storm to mess with by waiting it out, but that's an individual decision.  Keep us posted and god speed.

@Londy3 Keep safe my friend and don't try riding out the storm. The winds originally predicted may have dropped some from the original projections but as you already know, it's the water that will present the most trouble. Be safe.

I am sticking it out. Mainly because we have nowhere to go. Going to FL may have been an option several days ago maybe. But the storm is moving south again. Gridlock is horrible and not worth being stuck in a car on the highway so we stayed. The rain has started now, wind picked up and clouds are building. ...here we go!

Just finished a little hurricane party here on Ft Bragg ( hour south of Raleigh). Board games with good friends and now one last bath for my little girls. They say it should really start tomorrow. I think it won’t be too bad this far inland though.

This has been a steady soaking rain with wind gusts. Really doesn't feel like a hurricane. But mushy ground will create it's own set of problems.
