What is you favorite pipe shape (Bulldog, Rhodesian, Canadian etc.) and why?

Though I enjoy a number of pipe shapes, freehand pipes comprise the bulk of my pipe collection...I prefer freehand pipes that either reinterpret traditional shapes or are deviations (some slight, unique or adventurous takes) on the basic freehand form. Creativity,  uniqueness, grain, trend towards the larger size pipes with bent stems etc. are some of my reasons for my freehand preference.

I am a traditionalist. I like billiards and dublins. I especially like saddle stems on my billiards.  I also like princes, and have a couple of variations on that shape - an author and a bullmoose.

Lately dublins and billiards have been trending for me personally, but I do love my authors. Especially the Savinelli 320s.

I'm a fan of the apple... for me, there's something about how it fits the hand - a little narrower up between the thumb and forefinger then settling in nicely between the palm and fingers

The first 20 years I smoked a pipe I mainly liked bent apples (mostly Peterson’s). Lately I’ve been into straight pipes (specifically billiards, dublins, lovats & bulldogs). I’m smoking a straight Ropp bulldog as I type this. If I had to pick only one style it would be a straight lovat.

Apple all the way! Any time a pipe really catches my eye it has a beautifully curvy apple bowl. I have one apple in my collection, it’s a stokkebye, and i hope to add many more in the future. Tom eltang makes one that is on my wishlist for far into the future purchases.

I'm a fan of pipes with a straight or slight bent to them. Slightly bent pipes just have a nice look to them that I find appealing. At this moment, Canadian's (plus Lumberman and Liverpool pipes) are my current obsession for collecting, as I like pipes with a bit of length to them. I'm also a fan of bent Dublins, Bulldogs, and Lovats. Once I collect a few more of those shapes, I think I'll add an Apple or two, as well.

After looking at a variety of pipe charts I'll have to amend what I wrote earlier and say my preference is a bent Rhodesian. And since the styles are very similar I'll add Round Bent and Squat Bulldog. All the pipe I like tend to be bent.

My traditional pipes trend towards Rhodesians, Apples, Bulldogs, Dublin and similar with stems that are bent to varying degrees

Oops the why??? I like the way they fit in my hand, typically offers smaller lighter bowls than my freehands (shorter smoke, better for certain blends, easier to smoke while moving around etc.) and I like the way some of them look.

I too am eclectic.  I have a variety of shapes.  They are all bent at least a little but otherwise vary.  Each time I smoke my mood dictates which I choose.

Bent apple and egg shapes. They look like a pipe "should" :-), and they feel great in the hand.

Hello Pipe and Tobacco Aficionados, hope all is well out there. I believe I own more straight pipes however it appears that I may have a little of each at this time. I enjoy them all, reason being is that when I select a tobacco blend I also enjoy having the choice as to which pipe I will smoke. When I select a pipe I also enjoy doing the same concerning which blend I will smoke. I find that some blends smoke differently in certain shape pipes and also taste better. Currently I am looking for a meerschaum bulldog and saving up my pennies for that great day. Remember, smoke what you like and like what you smoke take time to contemplate. :-)

For me I’d say Lovat, Liverpool, Dublin, Canadian, Lumberman, Apple, Globe.
I guess I can’t pin down a “favorite”.  I generally smoke whatever tobacco style I feel like in any shape pipe I feel like, and I don’t dedicate a any pipe to a specific type of tobacco either.

I love the prince, apple and squashed tomato shape. I dont know that I have an absolute favorite. For me, the pipe, tobacco and mood or situation of the day all play a role in what I will grab to smoke. Not sure of that makes sense or not. It's an emotional decision really.
