The dinosaurs were wiped out when an asteroid struck the Earth and blanketed the planet in dust that eventually killed off their food supply. Our tobacco supply is slowly disappearing as well ... and like the dinosaur, we pipe smokers will soon be extinct.
It has been demonstrated that the FDA has killed more people by delaying the release of life-saving drugs than they have ever saved by preventing the release of dangerous ones. They have hijacked the organic food labeling. They are destroying proud family owned American companies like McClelland and propping up monstrous conglomerates like Phillip Morris.
They have few redeeming qualities, and we should defund them.
Frog Morton is now selling really well on eBay. Depending on the year it was tinned some 100g tins are going for over $100. Obviously, the older discontinued FM Across the Pond brings the highest value. But, give it a few years and all your recently acquired 2017 tins will be worth a lot more too. That is if you can resist smoking it.
I came across another find today, after I told myself I wasn’t going to go back into a B&M for awhile. Found some Dominican Glory and Dominican Glory Maduro. I love these blends. From the date on the can they are from 2013.
Seems there is no more McClelland tobacco around. Smokingpipes.com and PipesandCigars are out of stock. All of the local B&M shops around here are out of stock. (OMG! What am I going to do now!!!!). Seems the announcement of McClelland closing it's doors was sudden enough to cause a run on the existing supply. Had I known sooner, I would have bought some tins to save.
Fortunately for me, I have not really grown accustom to the McClelland tobaccos in the same manner I have with Dunhill. Strange as it may seem, there is still sufficient stock of Dunhill and I have been cellaring enough to last me for a few years.
@Charles - I think Dunhill was a considerably larger operation and more worldwide. My understanding was that the Dunhill warehouse won't be completely out of stock until later this year.

Last few cans of McClelland for my cellar. I’m gonna pop open the Gray Havens, so I can keep Perique-y Friday going.
