@Corey562, thanks for the kind words, they are very time consuming to craft, and somewhat fragile. The best place for them to land, is in the target.
@Woodsman, I am an ethnic White so I am not sure the SCA would have me, however the fellow who taught me to craft wood arrows is a member of SCA. They call him "The Welshman, and I gained a tremendous amount of knowledge from him in crafting arrows and tuning longbows and recurves. Probably more than all the other teachers put together over the years.
@woodsman yes I have been a technical and conceptual illustrator in previous career incarnations. Today I am a designer but have been trying to get back to my painting roots.
I'm a former runner (18 years removed...wow. That's the first time I realized it's been that long). I completed three marathons, multiple 10k's and 20ks over the years I ran. Running the NYC marathon in 1997 was the highest athletic achievement of my life. Then in 2000 my company promoted me and I fell in love with craft beer, right when it was starting to appear on the scene. I no longer run, but my hobbies are pipe and cigar smoking and bs-ing with my friends at the pub, my local tobacco B&M and posting here whenever I can.
Hi gentleman, thanks for the compliments, listen I just want to be clear I didn't take these photos. The only thing I can claim is the many hours I spent researching and putting them in historical context.I do have some I took on my first and only visit to Washington D.C a few years back and can relate them to historical events.I hope I'm not blowing you guys away with stuff but it is my passion.
I mentioned that I carved wood, I don't have too much left of my work, but I carved a Staff of Asclepius for a Doctor who passed on before I finished it.
My professors told us that when we graduate after nine years, we'd be jacks of all trades but masters of none; that our education was a mile wide, but an inch deep.
@motie, technology is helping to change all of that forever. Folks with "general" experience will not survive these days. It's just not good enough anymore and not in demand.
