I just tried to post in 'Shared a bowl with my son." I hit POST COMMENT and my comment disappeared. However, it showed up as posted a minute or two later when I went back to the folder, so there are still bugs in the system.
@motie2 - You have to be fast to notice the little window that pops up saying they have to APPROVE it before it posts. I use Google Chrome also. Mine says it's secure.
@NicoleSTGLandLtd -- Thank you, Milady. As with before, I have infinite patience. I'm sure things will eventually get straightened out. Frankly, I'm surprised there have not been more (serious) problems/bugs to work out after such a dramatic reboot. I for one, love the new site, and I feel very favorably disposed towards those who have provided such a grand service to us.... and for free!!! As I told @PappyJoe, we could really do without the ranks and badges; anyone frequenting these discussions very quickly figures out who the knowledgeable folks are...... And the little buttons -- Flag, OffTopic, Genius, yada, yada, yada -- are puerile, except maybe the flag one, but we (happily) don't have many (any) combative, disagreeable posters in TPL to flag......
Allow me to disagree with @motie2. Every forum has a way of visually identifying participants, i.e. new member, member, active member, preferred member, senior member, etc.
As for the little buttons - I wouldn't miss Off Topic, Surprised, Awesome, Haha, Genius or dislike. I would keep Flag if it actually did something like notify the admin or moderator (if we have one) of a problem. I don't have a problem with the Like button either.
What we really need is a "Reply" button that would automatically quote an comment that we are replying to.
I figured out the "Disappeared as soon as I hit POST MESSAGE" posts.
It's an occasional/infrequent slow page refreshing situation. When I leave the discussion I tried to post in, and then go back, the post appears to be there, after all.
@PappyJoe has "....been here longer, started more topics and made more comments....... But [he's] just a professor."
Why? This seems grossly unfair and it has obviously embitted Pappy a lot, as he keeps bring it up in discussions. Can't you or one of the System Lords take the "Commonsewer" designation off of me (I have no idea what I did to receive it....) and bestow it upon Pappy, who has really, truly earned it?
My father-in-law was an accomplished mandolin player with two instruments: a very expensive model he played at home, and a less expensive model for carting around. He didn't live to see sites like this on the web. He would have loved them.
I've been up I've been down, I've been high I've been low. Been a student and a master. I've been slow and I've been faster. Been a professor then a student again. Been a son and a father. I've been a lover I've been a brother. I've been near and far. But mostly I've been in my car. It doesn't matter the label, title or rank. We are all here than gone quicker than you think.

WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE?

Just FYI: My Google Chrome points out that this site is not secure.....

'Twas only a comment....
you don't irritate me.

Otherwise, the site seems speedy.

But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong. ~ Dennis Miller (before his brains were scrambled by 9/11.)
