All my pipes are packed away for the move except for 7. All my blends are packed except for 3, so my variety will be near nonexistent for about a week. We officially take ownership of the downsized house on the 30th. Until then, I will rotate these 7 pipes. After working off and on all day, about 2/3 of my garage is now ready to make the move. Frankenblend in a reworked noname...
@Ruffinogold In response to one of your earlier posts 4/2 that I apparently missed. Yep, time flies. It’s somewhat sad to see my mom, her dementia is raging. It’s almost like she isn’t here😢
One of my brothers and I went to visit her on Easter Sunday, I’m not really sure if she even knew who we were.
Even more depressing was one of the other residents was just outside my mom’s door wandering when I went to leave. She asked who I was and I told her, “Margaret’s eldest son”. She told me she didn’t have anyone and she was crying, streaming tears, then asked about her husband.🥹. As I didn’t know anything about her, I wasn’t sure if he had passed (likely), or just didn’t visit. That was rough. It still makes me profoundly sad just thinking about her.
Well? Where is everyone? I haven't seen any new posts in two days?
We had our New Orleans Pipe Club meeting last night but only six pipe smokers were able to make it. A couple of the regulars were traveling and a couple opted to attend the opening night of the New Orleans Jazz Fest instead. I bought and opened a tin of Benjamin Hartwell Evening Stroll - a blend I have never heard of before now. Since it was a blend manufactured by Sutliff, I'll probably never see it again.
The label on the back reads: "Benjamin Hartwell's friend, Jim Murdoch, was a real dandy, always dressed in the most fashionable styles of his day. He preferred his pip tobaccos subtle with a hint of sweetness to please the women as he walked by. Ben made this blend for Jim and called it Evening Stroll."
I find it to be a mild aromatic with a vanilla/fruit flavor and maybe a hint of alcohol - I can't tell if it's rum or whiskey because it's a light flavor.
Hey @PappyJoe As you know I have a legit excuse for being scarce for a while. I'm right in between closing for the downsized house and prepping to sell ours. What a headache! By the way, that Evening Stroll blend sounds interesting. I might give it a try after all the dust settles here. Hopefully it will be available when I get around to it...
Went to my little B&M in Blue Ridge Ga. a bit ago to get some Zippo flints and to my surprise they started carrying some tins . Smoked MBGE on the way there and snagged a tin of Ashton Rainy Day . Ashtons Gold Rush is my drop dead favorite Summer time smoking in the heat aromatic , its so wonderful . I look forward to popping this tin soon . its one Ive not had yet
its been a while, we have had the stomach bug terrorizing our house for the past few weeks. Finally cleared out. Taking some Davidoff Danish out back in my Rattrays Army.
I had my Morgan Briar Cigar loaded with a couple of Banditos (little cigars) cut-offs this afternoon. This evening’s selection is my Pete Sterling 53 Lovat loaded with some CAO “Black”.
Tonight it’s some St. Bruno’s Flake in a Tsuge Spider “Churchill”. I have a Gin Martini to pair. I admit, it just doesn’t seem like a “real” martini without being in a martini glass 🍸.
A small hint, if you ever decide to buy a Tsuge like this…..the metal rim gets freak’in hot.

Bought a tin of Rainy Day last year and it has been a great change of pace blend for me.
Hope you find it as enjoyable as I have...
