OK, @RockyMountainBriar I made a new shank extension for this monster. It wasn't easy, and I'm blaming you for all the work I had to put in! The rod isn't wide enough to put a "Calabash" lip over the mortise opening, so I'm left with what I have. Anyway, here's the piece with holes drilled and the mortise etched to help the adhesive to adhere...
Had to work on the tenon to gain a tighter fit. And although it fits ok, I don't trust it. There can't be more than 1/4" of the bottom portion of the tenon in the extension/plug. I'm going to have to find a stem that I can modify to at least a 1 1/4" tenon that will securely seat. Anyway, except for that, here's what "El Monstro" looks like now...
Remember the 4 stummels I bought at the pipe show for a total of 10 bucks? Well, I just finished #2. #1, if you recall, was "El Monstro", and I've more or less finished him. #2 is an unsmoked Calebrabrest full bent. I found a stem that the OD was just slightly larger than shank...
@KA9FFJ It kinda looks like Cambridge, but the loop on the C isn’t quite right, and the double stamp is tough to work through. I do pick out C-a-m and the lowercase cursive b, after that? It also has the swoop tail underline🤔
@RockyMountainBriar Yes, the first half of the name was steering me to "Cambridge", but the last half just wasn't convincing me. Not to mention the "C" doesn't seem to have the same script style. Still, I'm leaving an open mind at the possibility... Thanks for taking the time to research it. 🤔
I downloaded the image, blew it up and enhanced it as much as I could...doesn't look like Cambridge, there seems to be a distinct t second from the end maybe?
Although Caminetto is close because I do see two 't' s together, I don't see an 'o' on the end...in fact, I see an 's'.
If someone put a gun to my head and forced me to transcribe what's there, regardless of whether it's a pipe brand/model or just a word, I would say it is:
Camelotts
(and no, it's not meant to be came-lotts )
That said, there is a Camelot by Tinderbox apparently (just something I see on the web), but it obviously doesn't have the two 't' s or the 's' at the end that I see...I am half blind though so I could be seeing things.
I will say this, though, regardless of the double stamping, the stamp itself is not very refined...almost looks like a child carved it in with a pocket knife...maybe it's a hobbyist pipe?
The problem is, with my age and eyesight, at first I didn't see anything wrong with the stamping... Now THAT'S scary!🙄😬 😏 Oh, I looked up the Camelot stamping, and it seems to have been done in Old English style font. So I'm doubting it's a Camelot... Really appreciate you guys taking the time to investigate. Not earth shattering if left unknown. It's the curiosity that drives me. And for $2.50, I'll take it, bad stamping and all...
I mentioned it before somewhere here, but has anyone used Decatur Pipe Shield Briar-Fresh airway cleaner? I thought it looked and smelled like toilet bowl cleaner😖. I literally just poured it in my toilet. I’m not sure if it cleaned anything, but my toilet is minty fresh now…..I guess that’s a bonus🤔
At the STL pipe show, Jill (Giardena Pipes) gave me six of what she called, "the CHEAPEST pipes in the world". She wasn't wrong. She couldn't sell them. Heck, she couldn't even GIVE them away. She threw them in a box with some other stuff for me so I inherited the saddest pipes I've ever seen. Here they were:

From that poster you see the background, you can tell I take the game seriously...😏

It will make someone a very nice pipe...
One is another unsmoked Calabrest:
It was double stamped and I can't read it. Anyone here have a clue?
