Raffaello pipes
Anyone have any experience with Raffaello pipes? I picked one up at a garage sale this weekend
and can't seem to find all that much about them, other than it was an Italian company in the 60s?

I've done some digging and haven't found much on two of the websites I use for research: pipedIa.org and pipephil.eu.
Pipephil does have a listing, with a few photos but not much information:
Pipedia has it listed under the Italian brands and makers with the note: Raphael - Pipa Handicraft (AP); ca. 1960's.. That would lead me to believe the carver was someone named Raphael who was schooled at Pipa Handicraft.
Are there other markings on the pipe? The reason I ask is that there was a Comoy Raffaello pipe made by Lorenzo.
raffaello
firma
Sabbia oro
S 603
And thank you for looking into and all the info. Everyone on this site is incredibly helpful.
I believe the pipe says
Raffaello=The pipe maker/company
Firma=Signature
Sabbiato=Sandblasted
and I see the shape number as 803
The info I saw said it was probably a 1960’s vintage pipe made by an individual (Raffaello).
I know what you mean, I expanded the pic on my iPad and extrapolated the Italian translations
Ok. After cleaning it up a bit, it does look like it says sabbia oro
However the number was going in the other direction. It says 209 S
I'll post new pictures
So Sabbia Oro would be sand gold....or maybe read as gold sand in Italian? Nice pipe either way🙂
