Tobacco leftovers

Just wondering what you guys do with the tobacco you have that may be less than a bowls worth. Do you mix it with something else, throw it in a jar with all the other leftovers or just throw it away with tin?

I can't let any go to waste and will mix it with something else. I have also mixed tobacco that I didn't like with something else to try to make something positive out of it. Sometimes it turns out good other times not so good.

I usually have more than one tin of the same kind if not I do have some smaller pipes that I take to work with me. If all else fails I will add something mllow like some McCranie's.

I'm with @corey562. I either fill up the bowl with the next tin of whatever the blend is, smoke it in a smaller bowl, or just smoke a partial bowl.

I have found so few blends that I really like enough to always want to keep on hand, that I always have a tin in the cellar ready to back up the jar when the dregs are all I have.

I have a jar I call "Pappy's Compost". It's where I dump tins when I have less than a full bowl left. Sometimes, if it's something I don't enjoy by itself, I will add some of it to the jar - but never a tin more than half full. I smoke it when I am going to be working outside or doing something where I know I'm not going to be sitting and relaxing.

If I have some tobacco that has gotten too dried out, it goes in the compost jar as well. It then absorbs the moisture from the other tobacco.

I also try to never waste any tobacco, so I generally just mix whatever is left with some Borkum Riff. I've yet to find a blend that was so bad that it couldn't be rendered smokable (is that a real word?) by cutting it with a substantial amount of BR).

@topaz75. It's a real world in the pipe world. Most common spelling is smokeable.

If its less than a bowl full I will usually toss it. Pipe tobacco is relatively cheap compared to other hobbies. I have tried putting the leftovers in a jar, but more often than not it tasted awful.

My leftovers have been going in to an ever changing blend in a mason jar. Right now it is a good percentage of Middletons Cheery blend which I made the mistake of picking up. everyonce and awhile if I feel the blend is just not going in the right direction I will throw in some Prince Albert or Carter Hall to bring it back in line.

If you like it. make a "Parfait" of it with another you like and smoke it to see where the taste changes.

I tend to mix leftovers with toasted dark Cavendish. It seems to compliment most tobacco leftovers.
I'm coming from my taste buds, yours may be different...

Once I had a place to keep a humidor (not something you have on a ship unless you're a CPO or higher with your own/shared stateroom), I have tended to also keep a separate sealed jar called: "Odds of the Ends." Obviously, that is where the less-than-a-bowl leftovers ends up if I don't have another of the same blend to crack open. Every few days or so I tend to pick it up and roll it in my hands, and tumble it end-for-end a few times to continue mixing the assorted contents around. It can be quite interesting to see what the smell and taste have become whenever I smoke a bowlful from it.

After my short presence here on TPL so far, I have begun wondering if perhaps I should add another jar and split the leftovers between English leftovers and Aromatic leftovers to see where that takes the flavors and tastes.

I like to experiment. My first choice is to add it to more of the same blend if I have more, but if not I'll add it to another blend to see what happens. As pipesith said, sometimes good, sometimes not so good.
