Dunhill Tins

I’ve purchased my first two tins of Dunhill, My Mixture 965 and London Mixture. Which should I open first? Can I get a couple of you kind folks to give me an idea of which one y’all like better? I read tobacco reviews.com when shopping, but I’d appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

I myself love 965. I liked it over London mixture, but that is my opinion.

I agree with the others. 965 is a classic. If you get a chance to pick up any Elizabethan Mixture, Nightcap and Early Morning Pipe go for those too.

@jfreedy I was thinking about the Elizabethan because of the 3 bonus tin deal at PipesandCigars. It was Elizabethan, EMP I believe and The Apertif which I’ve been meaning to try as well. Don’t think I’m ready to dedicate myself to a pound of Dunhill though. Lol. Seems like a sweet deal.

@ocpunk714 — I couldn’t justify buying bulk Dunhill tobacco either. I bought a few tins to store and possibly trade someday. Now McClelland tobaccos... that’s another story. I LOVE their stuff and bought a lot more for the future.

@jfreedy I’m right there with you! My pipe smoking journey began a couple months ago, so I wish I had more time to try more McClelland tobaccos. Feel grateful for what I have though.

I say if you want to try some Dunhill blends go for them. Although your pipe journey is still underway, try them. If you like a certain few than stock up as funds permit. Based on some other blends you like, try NightCap and is better with some age. My favorite Dunhill blend is Royal Yacht and was one blend I resisted trying for so long. It is my go to blend.

Since you like latakia, I think you should go for My Mixture 965. It's the only Dunhill blend I've smoked, but it's a good one.

@motie2 I’ve been able to identify the Cavendish in the 965 and it gives the blend a nice touch. Like I said, the London is more my speed when it comes to lat blends.

@ocpunk714, Dunhill's London Mixture is a great blend and one that is in my regular rotation.If you like that, you might like to give their Standard Mixture and Standard Mixture Mellow a try.

Early Morning Pipe is pretty good. For some reason I don’t feel like it’s overly impressive, but it has captivated my attention. Already had 3 bowls in 3 different pipes.

Mine is still in the bag since I bought a couple oz in bulk. Love the aroma!

I only have 1 tin of Dunhill Aperitif, it's from the Early 2000's if I remember right the bar code is 7 61073 42391 1, does anyone know the date from the code? It was down in the bottom of a cellar box.

That barcode is like the one on anything you buy. It’s the Universal Product Code that stores enter into their systems so that the scanners can identify it and the price.

UPC doesn't change for a specific product,if I understand correctly how it works. Every tin of, say, Dunhill Apertif, is gonna have the same UPC.

@judandhispipe That is correct. All cans of Dunhill Aperitif has the same numbers on them. With the numbers he listed though, that is a upc barcode number.
Here's a good reference: https://www.gtin.info/upc/

With a UPC with a six digit company prefix, the first six digits are the company prefix and identifies the company who made the product.
The next five number would be the product number. And the last number would be the Check Digit.

I’m like EMP(which I got in bulk) better than my first 2 tins of Dunhill. MM965 would be my #2 and after yesterday, London Mixture is #3. The last two bowls went sour on me for some reason.
