I been made aware on numerous occasion that ladies don't like to state their age - and asking is impolite. But since the majority of those who post here are male, I was just curious as to the ages of the pipe smokers we have here at The Pipeline. It's not a matter of being nosey, but I'm try to get a gage on the age of the average pipe smoker ... or if there is such a thing as an average age for a pipe smoker. The stereotypical pipe smokers are portrayed as an older gentleman - but I keep hearing that pipe smoking is in something of a resurgence and thirty-somethings are taking up the hobby as well. I've noticed an influx of new E-Cig and Va-Per Smoke Shops cropping up in my location - but as of yet nothing has replaced the long departed The Tinder Box for pipe smokers when it left the area. Many of you guys attend Pipe Conventions so you can set me straight on the audience in attendance.
By the way I'm 67.

Been smoking cigars and pipes for over 35 years now. In all honesty though, have only really been smoking Pipes in earnest for the past year.
I am 52 years old, and I'm proud to say that I am more curmudgeonly than most of the membership here on TPL. It didn't come easy though, I had to work at it.
I smoked my first calumet under the radar,filled with kinnikinnick at the tender age of 7. When I ran out of kinnikinnick, I smoked dried pine needles. Somehow I instinctively knew to smoke the brown needles, instead of the green ones.

I have my uncle's (father's twin brother) pipe. It is a Frank Medico small smooth apple. I also have one of my grandfather's (on my dad's side) pipes. It is a lightly smoked Yello-Bole Imperial large smooth billiard with the inlaid shank logo from the 30's. My younger brother has my dad's pipe, a Dr. Graybow small rusticated Lark, even though my brother does not smoke it.
Since my dad had a twin, they often took up the same activities and purchased similar items, each just different enough to tell the items apart. They also had different personalities and their purchases reflected that. My uncle was a bit more "refined" hence smooth pipe, my dad a bit more "who gives a $h!t", hence the rusticated.
