On another forum I frequent someone had posted this link to an archive of tobacco reviews late 2006. This is a pretty good picture of pre 2007 blends. Tobacco Reviews 2006 Archive
I took a look at the 2006 Archive for tobaccoreviews.com and came up with some interesting items. While there are no doubt many great tobacco blends which came out after 2007 there were also a lot of good ones before then. C&D had 5 of the Frogmorton Blends out in 2006 for example. Here are some other brands and the number of blends on the market in 2006 according to tobaccoreviews.com. It should be noted that it's not an all inclusive list and it doesn't account for blends which were taken off the market.
Esoterica - 19 Blends available
Gawaith & Hoggarth - 52 blends available
G.L. Pease - 27 Blends available
Lane Ltd. - 73 blends available
McClelland - 120 blends available
Orlik - 40 blends available
Peter Stokkebye - 55 blends available (including 1Q and Nougat)
pipesand cigars.com - 39 blends available
Peterson - 16 blends available
Rattry - 18 blends available
Sutliff - 6 blends available (but it does include Edward G. Robinson Blend)
There's also several smaller British houses that don't get much notice in forums, but make some nice blends - Astleys, JJ Fox, F&T - not to mention MacBaren,Sam Gawith, and Nat Sherman - just off the top of my head.
I have smoked most of the JJ Fox blends - The Bankers, Campanile, Dorisco, The Squire and Provost Mixture. And they were all very good and should be available.
@judandhispipe - take a look at the link provided above for Tobacco Reviews 2006 Archive and you will find all of the blends you are talking about.
I'm going to guess that this may still be playing out for awhile. As I mentioned in another Forum, I'm going to increase my supply of several faves, but there's going to be plenty of blends available to smoke, no matter what.
@judandhispipe I bought all the London Burley my local shop had and put a tin of the Golden Extra on my last order. Haven't had a chance to try the GE yet though.
