How to Make Pipe Smoking More Socially Acceptable...

Here I go again. The discussions about pipe smoking dying out, how to get new pipe smokers, etc.,  is at fault here. You guys made me write this.

1. Dress as a gentleman when in public. Don’t look like a ruffian. Wear a suit, semi-dress clothes or something dressy, casual like Polo shirt and slacks.  No t-shirts, shorts, holey faded blue jeans, etc. You want to look like a gentleman, not someone who’s tending the lawn at the country club or headed to the beach. Oh, no beat-up sneakers or sandals. Exception: Sandals are fine if you’ve just had a pedicure and you are wearing proper golf shorts with a Polo shirt. Proper also means the shorts are worn belted around your waist and not hanging below your hips.

The only thing I didn't get was why it has a disclaimer that says it's satire? It should be titled The Ten Commandments.

There is nothing but fantastic, common sense practical advice that pipe smokers should follow. If anyone disputes any of the entries I suggest they do a quick self assessment to make sure you are the Lady or Gentleman you hope people see you as. 

 

P.S. For the record, the hound dog is the perfect Lunting dog.

I wish they had the edit button as well. When I posted the heading for what I hoped would be a place for members to post creative photos of their pipes 'The Daily Briar' I inadvertently spelled the word daily with a double  'L'. So every time someone see's that title they can't help but assume I'm illiterate. And since I'm posting a picture every day it's always on the front page.

About the disclaimer:

Believe it or not, there are some pipe smokers who lean towards being snowflakes. And I mean that in the worse possible way. They get "triggered" by humor or comments which differs from what they believe in. (Part of the reason I didn't mention manbuns.) For example, I posted the link to the blog on another pipe smoking forum and while practically all the comments were positive, one snowfla... I mean pipe smoker... took issue to my comments about pitbulls and attempted to chastise me about insulting that poor misunderstood breed of dog that would never, ever even think about attacking children.

I mistakenly believed that by posting the disclaimer even those snowfla... I mean pipe smokers... with different opinions would understand it was humor and satire. 

I was wrong.
