I would have sent it to Nicole via message or email, but couldn't get those pages to pop up, so I posted it. Not trying to be a butthole about it, just wanted them to know what I saw. I work in IT every day, and it is always helpful when a user comes across an error to have it emailed to me or put somewhere where I can see it directly. That way i can try to reproduce it in the test environment.
You can clearly see from the bat/app. string Ransomware validation code error, in the info/aromatics file, that someone must have had a super worm Trojan horse malware infection embedded in a tobacco review. Who has been posting recipes for homebrew aromatic blends?
"Hands-up ... don't shoot!" It aint me. I'm lucky to be able to log on and off without some error code popping up on my monitor, let alone create a Ransomware super virus. My kids quit coming over because every time they did I'd have some computer problem I needed help solving. I still haven't figured out how to upload my Ghosts Of Pompeii music library to my YouTube account. Better look elsewhere for the culprit. Sounds to me like the work of one of those James Bond villains like Ernst Stravro Blofeld.
All joking aside, I think it just has something to do with the site not being able to fetch your place markers (or something like that). It keeps track of your user ID and puts up those little badges that tell you how many posts you haven't read yet on each topic.
Blofeld would never resort to ransomware. If he wanted to destroy the pipe forum he would build a giant EMP bomb which can be launched from space and he would destroy the entire internet. He thought too big, that's why he always failed. He should have had a squad of elite commandos instead of a battalion of henchmen. Much more effective in his business plus a lot cheaper, although I don't know what kind of money a henchman makes.
When that deal first popped up on my screen, I figured that some of the questionable sites that I have visited were catching up with me. I feel a little better now, knowing that I am in good company, and that you guys have been visiting the same questionable sites.
xDutchx -- Want to check out "questionable" sites before you visit them? There are web examiner services that analyze suspicious files and URLs and facilitate the detection of viruses, worms, trojans, and all kinds of malware.
Thanks for letter us know. This is an ongoing issue with our forum backend application code. No need to worry about it, just logout and then back in. We are in the process of updating our platform to the latest most stable version, and we'll let all of our members know once the update has been made. Thanks!
