@motie2 -- That Pipe Tobacco Tin Can with Hygrometer & Humidifier is really cool, but I don't think it's not worth the price. Pipe tobacco is pretty easy to store and re-humidify. My local tobacconist says to add moisture back into pipe tobacco spread the tobacco out evenly in a large mixing bowl. Then spray it with distilled water and cover it with a wet towel. About 6-8 hours later mix up the tobacco and re-spread it out in the mixing bowl. Spray it again and cover again with the wet towel. Keep doing this until the tobacco is back to the desired moisture level. This has always worked for me.
Of course the best practice is to never let it get that dried out to begin with. I sometimes put one of those cheap, metal-encased stone humidifiers in the jarred tobacco if it starts to dry out.
I had one humidor where the round wooden top warped, just enough to make the O-ring seal unable to actually seal the jar unless you angled the lid just right . . . and it rarely stayed in that position.
@motie2 I use the same style jars. I also toss in a Bovida two way humipack. It keeps everything at a stable humidity. Usually sold for cigars. Comes in a variety of humidity levels so you can adjust to your preference. Lasts a long time in a pipe tobacco jar and has no flavor.
I have three different stash spots. My hall closet, top shelf bedroom closet and a dresser drawer. Mason jars for tobaccos I store for future smoke, bail top jars for fresh and current blends in my rotation.
Do what makes you feel comfortable. A little bit of research from the pdf references are also a big help. Ask @motie2 and he’ll hook you up.
When you get the tobacco to the humidity level you like, put it in a mason / Ball jar. For overly dry tobacco,I fill one of those see through plastic cylinder type humidifiers with distilled water and drop it in the jar until the humidity is where I like it.
