Thanjs PappyJoe, read the article, a well though out and presented philosophy of all things related to tobacco usage and it's forms. In reference to pipe smoking, I have always thought that it is related to time, which when engaged in encourages thoughtfulness perhaps even contemplation. I tend to see certain temperaments connected to pipe smoking.

@motie2 - The flaw in "The Spiritual Consequences of Tobacco Consumption" is that Vasey pretends that all tobacco consumption is equal when it comes to the physical effects and ignores that different consumption has varying degrees of negative effects. Even the infamous Surgeon General's report from the 1960s admitted that smoking pipe and cigars was just barely worse than being a non-smoker.
