It was take the wife to the local Antique/Craft Street Fair today. I found a Royal Sovereign 188 for $10. If I remember correctly its an Orlik second. It is stamped Made in England and it does have a partially visible White Crown on the stem. It's actually in fairly good shape and may have been cleaned before finding its way to the antique shop. I can barely smell anything when I sniff the bowl and their is minimal cake.
I will start the clean process later this weekend and will post a photo later.
I will post a photo later.
So did I just waste $10.

Pappy, sounds like you got yourself a pre-Cadogan if it is stamped made in England in capitol block letters, and with the White Crown, you most likely have the original stem. I am looking forward to seeing how she cleans up, and how she smokes.
Pappy, Cadogan Investments bought out a lot of the famous brand name trademarks over the years, and in some cases, the quality of the brand suffered tremendously post transition. Most of the pre Cadogan pipes have higher quality internal engineering, as well as better stem work, and better quality briar.
Knowing that a pipe is pre Cadogan, can help to date it, as well as indicate briar sources, and collectible value.
