Growing up in the 60's and 70's I too love good ol Rock, but find that I gravitate towards Blues.

Right now I've got a Robert Johnson playlist tuned up on youtube and am sitting here enjoying a nice bowl of Stonehaven in my Nording Freehand and sippin a Corona.

My usual "go to" artists include Stevie Ray Vaughan, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Chris Duarte, Johnny Lang, Eric Clapton, Indigenous, and others.

Not to forget Skynard, ZZTop, Foghat, Zep, Molly Hatchet, Boston, Eagles and others.

Can't forget those classic psychedelic, garage, and Top 40 songs from the 60s'. Hard to make a play list from that era without omitting a few that may have slipped my mind. I'd suggest picking up a copy of the Rhino Nuggets Collections and using that as a template. Some great rock and roll from that era.

I don't know if this is appropriate to this thread, but "The Pipes of Pan at Joujouka," recorded by the late Brian Jones (an original member of the Rolling Stones), incorporates mesmerising  music by folks who played one kind of pipe whilst smoking another [nudge, nudge; wink, wink]. On this field recording, one can hear some coughing. I guess the blend was harsh.

Time to add a little space rock to the mix with bands like Hawkwind (Space Rock at it's finest ... great live shows with lazer lights and even a naked chick dancing as part of the actual group), Ozric Tentacles (fantastic instrumental space rock), Eloy (German band very similar to Pink Floyd), Gong (another trippy space rock group), and Brian Eno (originally from Roxy Music who went on to create his own unique music genre).
