Moving Day

The family and I are packing up and moving to a new home this week. My goal today was to pack up my office which includes my tobacco cellar. Gents, this is what 40 lbs of various pipe tobacco looks like. My wife is not impressed by this.

@thewanderingdude Did you ever estimate how long it would take you to smoke 40 pounds of tobacco at your current rate of consumption?

I think I figured  between 3 an 4 lbs. a year. You brought my attention to my age which convinced me to change over from cellar to pantry so get back to me with this question in 5 years or so and I'll tell you how the excavation is coming.

@ghostsofpompeii Using the Pipe Tool's handy tobaccopalypse calculator, Its tells me that at my current consumption of 6 bowls a week I will burn through this 40 lbs in 26.6 years. I need more!!!

Since I'm constantly switching from blend to blend each time I smoke it's hard to notice if I'm making any headway when looking at the contents of an 8oz. jar. I'm smoking like a chimney but all my jars still look like they're filled to the brim. My problem is I just have so many different jars to chose from. What I need to do is just smoke one blend until the contents of the jar is empty before moving on to another to get a better gage at just how long it takes me to get through an 8oz. jar. But I'm just not disciplined enough to do it. I seldom smoke the same blend twice in a day. I guess I'm a tobacco gigolo.

@ghostsofpompeii - I just started doing the same thing...focusing on what I have and reducing the variety just a bit so I can constantly weave in new blends.  I'm a newb, so it's only recently that I've started to identify blends that have become "must haves in stock", all-day smokes, etc.  Bringing in new stuff based on recommendations from others and online reviews keeps it's fun.  What a great hobby.

@thewanderingdude I may actually have something to top that picture. A few years ago we were having carpet laid in my family room so we had to remove all the furniture and bookcases which contained my DVD collection. There were also a few old VHS tapes in the collection as well. So I was forced to remove all the movies from the shelves and store them in my music studio. Here are a few pictures I snapped from that occasion. Now remember ... this was a few years ago - so my collection of DVDs and Season Box Sets has grown even more so ... although I have eliminated all the VHS tapes from my collection now.
