I blog again - Pike Place I hardly got to know you

Comments

  • Quite a leap to jump to the conclusion that the loss of Pike Place was due to "liberal, socialist judges," don't you think? I don't see Trump handing out his name to anyone that wants it... unless they're paying him.
  • Or, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I should just start collecting all my dottle in a tin and then market it as Trump's Mixture: A perfect blend of all sorts of gross to really make you want to end your life.
  • Thanks for taking the time to blog again PappyJoe. As always a good read, and food for thought.

  • @bryanweeks - Lighten up there guy. The comment was not meant to be taken as anything serious. It was a Washington state judge who made the ruling and if anything is surprising it's that the judge didn't rule in favor of the Seattle Pipe Club.
  • One more point. The ruling on the copyright infringement was made last summer. Trump wasn't the official nominee at the time.
  • Having lived a number of years in Seattle, it doesn't surprise me. Seattle likes to put on the face of the loving liberal, but I have watched it, over the years, grow into another city that simply caters to the interests of those with the capital to back up their stance and forget about the ma&pa shops that made it special in the first place(ie botique ventures like Seattle Pipe Club). I'll admit, liberals are often just as disappointing as their conservative counterparts. Either way, it is sad that Pike Place had to come off the market and can't be re branded due to PMTA costs.
  • I was stationed in the Seattle area from March 1972 until December 1977 (I did spend 9 months on the coast near a lovely little hovel named Moclips.) I still have in-laws on sides of the mountains and they tell me the same story - the "liberals" are more interested in ensuring everyone is in lockstep with their version of diversity than in actual personal rights. Most of the people who were liberal back then would be called old hippies or libertarians today. They didn't want the state, local or federal government telling them what they had to do.

  • Yeah, it's disappointing. There are still pockets of goodness in certain neighborhoods, but I've very happy with the decision I made a few years ago to move back to Idaho and get out of the crazy.
  • I was speaking to Stacy at Kirsten Pipe earlier this week. She relayed the story about how one of her regulars - an old military vet - got hassled by people because he was standing outside her shop smoking a pipe yet they didn't say anything to the two guys stand a few feet from him smoking pot.
