Curious?

They say Curiosity killed the cat but this Wolf wants to know!  LOL
So who checks in everyday but doesn't always post, comment or start a new Discussion?
Personally I check in every single day unless I am so sick I can't move but sometimes I do not make any comments on any posts because my hands or fingers are killing me or I just don't think it is necessary to comment on everything on here everyday.
So who else checks in everyday but doesn't always make it known by commenting?
If you do check in everyday are you out of work? Disabled? Retired? Checking in before or after work?  What makes you want to stop by here everyday?

I stop in everyday because a lot of interesting people post and comment on a lot of interesting topics and because I am disabled so it helps pass the time, especially on days I can't get out and do anything or I am hurting to much to work on crafts or other hobbies I do to stay busy.

I usually thumb through the discussions everyday, I have a fair amount of downtime right now because of a lull of work in my trade.
  • I used to check in every day.  Now I maybe log in 2 out of every 3 days.  I don't post or create new discussions very often. I joined last June, but I am still at the Apprentice level.
  • I'm a relative newcomer but I try checking in once or twice a day to see if there are any new discussions that I might be able to add to ... or if someone has responded to a recent post I created. I'm a retired steelworker and have a good deal of free time on my hands so I'm able to check in more often than most.

I normally log in everyday and look around. I only post if I
feel I can add to the discussion. Sometimes I put my foot in it
and I will gladly accept critism for it. Sometimes my stupidity
just jumps out before I can stop it.( I do ignore comments on
my spelling, I'm the product of our Public Education System)

I check in everyday and scan through. I like coming here and reading other pipe smokers thoughts. I have no friends that smoke a pipe around here. This pipe life and the two weekly podcasts I listen to are all I have. I'm really looking forward to the Texas pipe show later this year
  • I'm a prefect on another site and enjoy sharing with all the people in our hobby. I'm retired so I usually go on site later in the night when the house is quiet and I can smoke, listen to music, and enjoy the cold night Winter and Warm in Summer.
  • I check in everyday and would post more but my wonderful IPhone won't let me upload pictures or do some of the other things a desktop allows me to do; but I'm usually hanging around.

Early (around 0300) while I'm having my morning tea. Part of my routine to avoid the news.
  • I check in usually every morning just to see what the new topics are.  I have learned quite a bit from all of the users on here, not to mention it is nice to hear of others keeping the pipe tradition alive.  I would post more but my tablet doesn't let me type anything (the keypad just disappears when I try to post on a thread).
  • I don't get the opportunity to check in everyday but when I do check in I like to comb through the PipeLine and just read what has been going on in discussions. I don't always post or even start a new discussion but I find there is a lot of good ideas and news along with some solid info.

I try to check in everyday and browse new posts. Enjoy the camaraderie and love the design of the forums. I do wish that they would get the bug fixed that prevents posting on the forums from any mobile browser. I would post images and comments more instead of only when I'm home on my desktop or Surface.
  • I'm definitely an everyday guy.  It's nice to see that I'm not the only one.  Sometimes I don't have time to hit the shop, so it's always nice to see what's going on in others' pipe communities.
  • Lot of interesting comments and a lot of interesting people in this forum, another reason I like to stop in everyday.
I don't get to smoke my Pipe or Cigars everyday like I did this Past Spring Summer and Fall because Winter keeps me indoors and I don't have a good room with ventilation to smoke in, I don't like smoking in a house or vehicle but that is my personal choice.  Built my garage this Summer and will smoke in there until it is complete and the cars are in it, after that I will not smoke in there either because the cars are classic and antiques, don't want them smelling like anything other than cars.  lol  I do have a trapping shed and when Trapping is not in Season I could smoke in there but again Winter is Trapping season so don't want to smell up traps and hides......Spring, Summer and Fall I can smoke outside even when it rains so I really need to find a Winter shelter that has heat so I can smoke during that time of year.
Could heat the greenhouse and smoke out there but it would be a lot to heat.  LOL
Going to have to think on this a while!
Coming in here and talking about Pipes, blends and other stuff helps me not think about a lot even not getting to smoke all the time, so Yep this is a daily check in kind of like a support group I guess.....LMAO
  • I would enjoy checking in every day, but some days I get too busy to even smoke a pipe. Sometimes I have time to check in, but don't have time to post. Then there are days when I have time to reply to one or two posts, but don't have time to reply to all the posts I would like to.

Occasionally, I will start a new discussion, but I tend to reply more to threads others have started. I am not sure why, but I suppose I only start a new discussion, when I think I can provide a link to something others might be interested in.

  • It's how I start my morning.
@wolf41035 - Why not just build yourself a small shed? Or, if you have a big enough porch, enclose one end and a side with heavy canvas and get yourself a good electric space heater?
  • I check in regularly as part of my morning routine. I'm retired, so my time is my own. I don't start discussions often, but I comment a fair amount.
  • I, too, sign in at least once a day.  I've wandered through many discussions in The Pipeline, or, at least their most recent comments pages.  I have participated in only a select few -- the ones that interested me. I'd guess most folks here behave in a similar manner.......

I scan most of the pipe boards everyday but This Pipe Life's age wall is a real pain in the ass especially on my phone. I just don't have the patients to wait for it load. I would visit more often if it was a one click site like that other boards
  • I log on about every other day (or more) and browse the discussions. Would like to post more as I become more experienced.
  • I check in daily to gather tips and tricks from you veterans out there. Also to bring up interesting questions when they occur to me...
  • I try to check in everyday, its easy right now, I live in a tourist town and my work slows way down, we will see if once the season changes and the tourists roll back in if I will able to continue
  • Being retired, like many that are, have time free to log in without feeling rushed. I really like the many opinions on pipe related topics, and particuarly on tobaccos that I have yet to try, and there are many.
  • I'm in shop everyday.  I work Surveillance for my Casino and there is a lot of computer work/ down time.
  • Everyday with my cup o' joe, it's how I start my day!
  • I check in every day, but I rarely post.
This most likely needs to change, but I am typically the type to not say anything unless I feel I have anything valuable to add.
  • Wolf1035, I have a glassed in front porch W/O heat but we get good sunlight. I filled a bunch of gallon drink containers with water, a little antifreeze and put a measure of black ink in them. I put them where  the sun shines strong and they get quite warm, they hold heat for a few hours after sundown and I sit near them when smoking, it works fairly well and probably worh much better in a green house.

  • @Woodsman, sounds nice, I have been thinking about building a small smoking building, all I need is 3 walls, a big heavy tarp, a roof and a fire pit or stove inside, I think that would be good enough.  I have a lot of things planned in my mind to do, just takes money to do it all!
Some of my other projects are a cooler or freezer room, I have the freezer until out of a box truck just need to build an insulated building with cement floor, want this to hold Deer, Hogs, Turkey and Cattle that we kill.
A smoke house, simple project, four walls a roof and  shelves and hangers to put stuff on.
A slaughter and processing room, attached to the cooler/freezer room or between that and a smoke house but the smoke house would have to be no less than 10 feet away.
Trapping/skinning building so I can free up my shed.
Last but not least, a Work shop, for woodworking, auto working and gunsmith/reloading work, this would be the biggest building because I want each area in it's own room.  LOL

Just takes money which I have none of at the moment!

  • I can identify with that money thing.
