Most of what I post comes from the month last summer that I spent obsessively researching pipe smoking when I took up the pipe again after almost three decades. I have a hard drive filled with whatever I found interesting or illuminating.

@pwkarch Thanks for the review as well as the warning. I too was intrigued by the notion of a tobacco with the scent of incense ... but what you've described sounds like my idea of a nightmare. Sounds more like the scent in the air after an act of arson on a House of Worship. The scent of a forest fire and creosote, couples with tongue bit .... No thanks! But once again, 'thank you' for biting the bullet on our behalf. I'll be sure to skip that one.
You have recommended the Officer's Club. I'm interested in it, and in The Royal Challenge ( I await your review of RC).
The perique in the Cellar Reserve gives me pause. I'm not against Perique, and certainly not in a VaPer. (In my first pipe life, I was Captain Cope's Escudo, when I wasn't Captain Balkan Sobranie. But the descriptions of Cellar Reserve remark on the grand aroma. Perique? Maybe a pinch, eh?
I'm surprised you aromatic guys haven't jumped all over Autumn Evening by Cornell & Diehl. I slung a tin into my shopping cart to check it out after reading a review on Tobacco Pipe Blog and was very happy I did. My first thought was the guys who like the Sutliff Molto Dolce blends would flip over this. It smells so wonderful but is much drier and smokes better than the M.D., not saying it's better only burns much better.
You may have discussed it in the past although I could not find it.
I highly suggest the review on the link above. He hit the nail on the head and I couldn't do better, I really enjoyed it (the tobacco and the review). The smell is such that you just want to leave the lid off. I'll add two things of my own, one good and one neutral. You can get it bulk which to me is a plus. The other is, since I have serious mental, shall we say foibles, I'm having a difficult time smoking it. I've only had two bowls just to try and now I can't bring myself to smoke anymore. It's called "Autumn Evening"! How can I smoke it in the summer? I really wish they would have named it something else. Until I decide what to do I'm not having anymore until the Fall. Maybe if I do I'll appreciate it all the more when that time of year rolls around. Also, like Mr. Pappy alluded to, there are so many good ones It might be a self limiting blessing.
I save Autumn Evening for the autumn also, it has a fantastic room note and maple taste, over the years, I've lost my sense of taste, especially when it comes to pipe tobacco, so I could never do a review of anything, damn shame.
@xDutchx Your comment about Spring, Fall and Autumn reminded me of a scene in the 2000 movie "Red Planet" when Tom Sizemore's character is discussing faith with Val Kilmer. "Faith? I had a girlfriend named Faith. She cheated on me with a girl name Chastity."
@motie2, I still enjoy pipe smoking, I just can't detect all the subtle nuances that are in the blend, I can taste the perique in VaPers, and the sweetness in Virginia's, I just can't pick up on all the other flavors, like in aromatics, which is why I do't smoke them anymore, I like the taste of the tobacco itself, that's why I don't do tobacco reviews, it would be a disservice to myself and others in the hobby.
so do most of you change your blends with the seasons? Something more "light" over the summer? I notice in the summer I drink more Blonde type beers, more rum type drinks, etc...
I saw the Pina Colada from Panama Jack.. anyone try it?
