I have the good fortune of being retired, so I start each morning leisurely with a pipe and a hot cup of English breakfast tea. However, my choice of tobacco has absolutely nothing to do with the time of day. In most cases, you'll find me smoking the same blend as the night before.
I have been smoking Autumn Evenings in the mornings because of the sweet room note that it has. i just got a tin of Dunhill Early Morning Pipe and cant wait to open it to try.
Morning faves include HH VS, Old Dublin, MM 1938 (Baby's Bottom), and Arrowhead. This summer I smoked a lot of Lane RR for the first pipe of the day.For ages the HH VS was my first pipe of the day, but at some point there will be no more Syrian latakia.
I have 10-15 tins opened, and will smoke whatever striles my fancy, or i will finish whatever was left in my pope from the night before. I've been known to finish the prior evening's half-smoked cigar with my morning black coffee.
I often start the day with coffee and Carter Hall. Simple.
If I don't have a bowl until I am driving to work (45 min), I will have something more complex on the drive. I often like Night Train or Jackknife Plug for the ride.
Usually smoke a mild blend ,after or together with my morning coffee, like 1Q or Wild Atlantic. After that smoke more heavier English blends. But during the summer I tend to smoke more mild blends, and vice-versa at winter.
I'm pretty much a one trick pony when it comes to tobacco. If I'm not driving to work smoking a premium hand rolled cigar I'm smoking what's ever left in my pipe/pipes from the night before.
Depends on my mood but at least 80% of the mornings it is EMP. Have just purchased some Chelsea Morning and plan to have a couple bowls of that in the morning.
I can't do anything strong in the mornings. I don't even eat until I've been up 2 or 3 hours. That said, I do drink my coffee and have my pipe on the way to work. Lately it's been a local aromatic.
Frog Morton On the Town has been my most recent morning blend. Before this blend I was on a kick of Dunhill's Early Morning. Both pair well with coffee, but I happen to think just about any English or NA is good with coffee.
I have discovered Granger makes a pretty good smoke for waking up with a big cup of coffee. I've seen many say Carter Hall is a great wake up tobacco so I have ordered some to give that blend a second chance (tried it many years ago and didn't really care for it)
Usually I will start the day with Luxury Twist Flake, but lately it has been Uhles Irish Aromatic. Both blends are great with a cup a joe in the morning.
I tried the carter hall and while I ended up liking it I still prefer Prince Albert or Granger to start the day, I prefer it simple and in a cob with my morning coffee
I like a good English in the morning while I drive into work. FM Cellar is a little too sweet for me that early, but I've really fallen in love with Plum Pudding and Bengal Slices
If I am smoking cigars, I make a conscious effort to smoke milder blends early in the day. When smoking a pipe, I rarely feel I have washed out my palate, regardless which blends I smoke early in the day. I believe that the reason for this, is that some of the mildest pipe tobaccos, have more flavor than the most full bodied cigars on the market.
