Yeah, have to polish the stem, but it is a regular churchwarden length stem. The briar came from your buddy at Vermont Freehand. Too bad my camera sucks, the grain is pretty cool.
@KA9FFJ, @Corey562, thanks for the encouragement! I think I like making pipes as much as smoking them. Next step is to buy a wood lathe so I can make stems.
Alright I had some time off work today so I was able to finish a few pipes. They are some real beauties I will save my favorite for last. So @ghostsofpompeii@motie2@mfresa@KA9FFJ check these out.
@ghostsofpompeii ~ I agree and I'll admit I'm somewhat torn at times. Being fortunate enough to own two of @Corey562 pipes, they smoke wonderfully and always receive compliments. It's hard not to smoke them. I do, however, meticulously clean them after each smoke. They are definitely the Crown Jewels of my collection.
In addition to that pipe being awesome, I especially love the chip amber stem. I think that's one of your finest pieces. I mean, they all are really but I'm particularly fond of that type of pipe shape. Home run.
@mfresa@ghostsofpompeii@Kmhartle I couldn't take it anymore! You know the 5 pics @Corey562 posted just before the freehand? Well, I made the plunge and I'm getting the top one. He is going to give me a chip amber stem which I think will REALLY set it off. Corey's got my number, and I couldn't say NO... AGAIN.!.!.
