I wanted to have people weigh in on their favorite tobacco tin art. I am personally a fan of McClelland graphic design. I love the frogmorton series as well as some of the more elegant tins with the iconic whale in gold leaf (such as Christmas Cheer or their other Virgina blends).

I enjoy Cornell & Dheil's whimsical art for their tins. They put a lot of thought into their tin designs. I'm also fond of SG's Squadron Leader. It reminds me of something that belongs on a pipe tin.

The Squadron Leader tin art is classic,indeed, @thebadgerpiper. Gawith tin art generally has an old-timey feel that fits the line.

Sutliff Private Stock tins (ALEXANDER BRIDGE, BARBADOS PLANTATION, BLUE DANUBE, MAPLE STREET, MOLTO DOLCE, and TASTE OF SUMMER) are all beautiful IMHO.

Can't beat a classic. There is just something about the old tin art for Bond Street Tobacco that strikes a positive chord in me. Been so long since I smoked it I can't remember if it was good or not ... but I just loved that tin art. Bond Street Tobacco Tin

I am a big fan of Greg Pease. Not only are his blends outstanding offerings in a unique niche, his tin art shows a lot of forethought in design. No doubt, his heart is in the right place, and he has made a substantial contribution to the pipe smoking community, no matter how things turn out.

One of my favorites id Dunhill's Early Morning Pipe. I like anything nautical too: C&D's Black Frigate and Billy Budd; GL Pease's Navigator and Sextant; the Captain Earle series.

@SLCarrico When I posted pictures of my collection of vintage pipe tobacco packaging I noted a lot of the artwork associated with pipe tobacco products has a nautical theme. This is another example.

The old Troost tin. It showed a man in the stocks serving time for some crime or other while his friend stands next to him holding a churchwarden clay so the punished man can have a comforting smoke. Otherwise Barking Dog.

Sutliff's Private Stock tins all feature tastefully composed graphics. Some of the art might be considered "old school" 'though hardly retro.

@motie2 I do like Sutliff's tin art, and it does have an old school feel to it. I don't think retro art has been abandoned, but there's just something classic about these old tins that's lost today. I mean, I love recent stuff like C&D's tins, but some of that old art is just perfect for tin art.

@motie2 Very nice - but expensive. At one of the antique store I went to recently there was a very old tin of Velvet that was still sealed and only going for $5.00. Across the street at a rival antique shop the guy had several tins in about the same condition but empty and he was charging $9.00. Unfortunately I already have two small tins in my collection of Velvet - as well as two cans that are about 20 years old. So I didn't want to add any more Velvet to my collection. Especially since I'm not particularly found of the blend. The one vintage tin I'm always on the look-out for is a Bond Street tin in nice condition with as much of the artwork in tact as possible. The ones I find near me are in pretty bad shape. But I know I'll find one sooner or later. Looking is a big part of the adventure of collecting.
