Grinding Flakes

Trying to avoid hot burning flake tobacco. I have yet to pull off the fold and stuff method when it comes to flakes. When I rub out the flakes I find myself with large clumps that just don't want to always break apart. Was wondering if anyone has tried using a grinder for flakes to break them down. I have seen it mentioned else where while searching the vastness of the Internet. Thinking some sort of hand grinder would give better control over the texture.

I would think a grinder would make the tobacco too fine.

You might rub it out over a sheet of paper and then cut or pull apart the clumps.

I know that Steve Fallon (aka Pipestud) uses a coffee grinder. I'm a fold-and-stuff guy, myself.

I know with broken flake, (a la Six Pence) I always have some larger chunks, so I will rub out over paper, and make sure it is as uniform as possible. Never had a heat problem with that!
