The Odd Tampers thread got me thinking about the times when I've been caught without any pipe tools and been forced to extemporize. For example:

-Used a maple leaf to clean off and dry a moist stem

-Used a twig to clear the draft hole

-Used a broken seashell to scrape the inside of the bowl

    I've done this a lot. It seems I'm always forgetting my tamp when I smoke away from the house. Most the time I just end up carving a stick into a tamp and poker while I'm smoking. Great temporary fix.
